In reply, Maria tried to give him a smile, but it ended up looking like a grimace. She cleared her throat as she attempted to give a response while playing with her orange hair that was tied securely in a ponytail—a nervous habit of hers—before she spoke up.
"I--" She quickly cut herself off, looking into Paul's eyes that desperately tried to meet hers. "I-It's just...Paul..."
"I get it," Paul shook his head, turning away to face the forest. "You're afraid of commitment...so am I."
Maria took a deep breath, turning away from him as well. "Paul, you know that I grew up without having a good role model when it comes to relationships." She tilted her head. "And that I've never had any sort of relationship like the one we have right now. And I just think it's moving too fast, and now I suddenly find out I'm technically bound to you for life--"
