Rosaly

Rosaly was in a hurry, running like crazy to reach an overcrowded subway that Friday afternoon in downtown São Paulo.

Shawn had called and said he'd pick her up at home in the afternoon so she could go with himto Rio de Janeiro, where he had two shows scheduled for that weekend, and then he would board back to Canada, as he would have other work commitments in his homeland. He really wanted Rosaly to go with him, and they had been arguing about it all week through messages and phone calls, because Shawn hadn't been able to get a break in his schedule to get them together, and the only form of communication they found was that one.

Rosaly wasn't sure that traveling with Shawn to Canada was a good idea, but he had kept repeating over and over that it didn't make sense for them to be apart if they loved each other so much.

But for Rosaly everything was still very uncertain. She really wanted to stay with him, but that cold stomach and chills in her spine reminded her that the danger was still out there, hidden somewhere, and Rosaly couldn't feel safe. However, she didn't want to get away from Shawn again, she didn't want to lose the only man who could make her happy, the only one she would love. He was the missing half of her, and to let him go was to lose part of herself.

She had tried to do that when she left him in Canada and went back to Brazil, but it hadn't worked. It had only caused suffering for both of them, she didn't want to go through it all again, she didn't have the structure to leave Shawn for the second time. He had asked her to trust him, and she had decided that she would do exactly that, even though she was scared to death that he would get hurt trying to save her from that madman.

Rosaly kept thinking about Shawn as she squeezed herself between people inside the subway. The last few days had been the best of her life. Although she and Shawn didn't see each other as much, they were even closer and more in love than ever, and the same complicity they had in Canada connected them again.

When she was with him, Rosaly felt free to love him without barriers, without false modesty, without any inhibitions. If she showed him what it was like, she didn't have to pretend, she didn't have to hide, she didn't have to do anything she didn't want to do. They were always sincere and frank with each other, they spoke exactly what they felt, what they thought without fear of anything, because in their hearts there was the absolute certainty that their love was true, and they wanted to live it every moment intensely until the last drop as if there was no tomorrow. They didn't want to imprison the uncertainties of the future, they didn't want to live counting the seconds they had left together, they didn't want to think that in the next second they would have to face an earthquake to be able to stay together forever, and to stay together forever was what they were fighting for.

Shawn was like an angel, he was the breath of life that drove her forward, he was the freedom she needed to run after her dreams, he was the man who had her heart in the palm of his hand.

When Rosaly thought about the way they met, she thought it was amazing how fate had brought them together so unexpectedly. She remembered the first time she had seen him at her old job, sitting so lonely at table five, looking lost in his own world, living in another sphere where no one could penetrate. It was like a miracle that he had noticed her, and the moment he did, she had never been free of that charming smile. It was also a mystery to her how a pop star like him rich and famous, who could have the woman he wanted in his life chose Rosaly to love. Because for her to love Shawn Mendes had always been so easy, she had never wondered how he had won her heart so quickly. It was so natural to give herself to him, without questions, without great doubts, without thinking too much about where everything would take her. She had been afraid at first, but Shawn with her practical way of seeing things, and his passionate optimism, had turned everything that could be a thorny path into a full spring.
