My heart raced uncontrollably as I stood in front of the door. I could feel my hands trembling and sweat building on my palms I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared, Everything in me screamed for me to turn around and get back in the car
I looked around the yard luckily Joe's car wasn't in the driveway meaning that he wasn't home. I finally built the strength to knock on door. A minute hadn't even passed before my mom came swinging the door open. In the beginning she seemed shocked until I walked inside then her entire attitude changed
"Renae"My mom followed behind me as I speed-walked into my room "You got ya' hair done.. you think you grown huh?"
I simply ignored her while grabbing a suitcase out of my closet and setting it on my bed. I grabbed clothes and practically threw them in the suitcase
"Bitch you hear me!"She yanked the suitcase causing all the clothes to fall out "You ain't leaving so sit down"
"Mom stop"I tried my hardest not to look her in the eyes because no matter what she's put me through I knew I wouldn't allow myself to leave her. I'd always have a soft spot for her cause I knew she needed help
"You're not going anywhere so you stop. You my child you need to listen to me"
As I continued to grab clothes she was just hanging them right back up in the closet which was honestly upsetting me "Ma, I'm not staying here! just leave me alone"
I went back to grabbing clothes until she forcefully pushed me causing me to fall on the floor, just as I tried to get up she pushed me right back down.
"You not going nowhere"I sat there, almost giving up. That is until I heard Smoke's deep voice
"Yo Nae!"He shouted
My heart filled with excitement the second he barged in my room. He glared at me then at my mom "Come'ere"He demanded, and without a doubt I did. I flew into his arms as if my mom was a villain and he was the hero who came to my rescue me
"This what you do to your daughter? Abuse her"Smoke questioned
"You don't know what the fuck I do, who the fuck is you?"She growled
"I'm the nigga that's been takin' care of ya' child, bossing' her up, doin shit you supposed to be doing that's who I am"Smoke stated, It was almost as if my mom was speechless. She stood there just staring at him "Grab ya' stuff Nae"
I nervously removed myself from his grasp before hesitantly grabbing my suitcase and throwing my clothes in it. I took as many things as I could fit before zipping the suitcase up and walking clean out of the house
