Steven's POV
We head outside. It was still early noon. There was strong wind. I followed her from behind. We walked a bit farther from the house to not damage it. She then stops and turns back to me with her head lifted up proudly but yet tiredly. I had my hands in my jacket pockets and didn't really care. The only thing that I was worried about was the determination in her eyes. Was she bluffing? Does she really think she can win this? A smirk on my face appeared and I took my hands out of my pockets. She also smirked back at me.
"Let's begin this, shall we?" I nod and immediately 3 flame balls come right at me. She was standing still, her hands on her hips with a cocky expression on her face. I moved just in time and they all his different parts of the beach. I sigh in relief and look back at her. Once again, more fireballs come at me and I dodge them all quickly, trying to move closer to her. Even if we both could get hurt, this was really fun. The smile on my face never left and there were drops of sweat on my forehead. It's been a while since anybody has made me work out. Would this really count as working out though? There were a few giggles coming out of my mouth as the fireballs just kept coming. The hissing sound of them hitting the water, the sound of sand scattering around - I loved it all. I didn't understand why but this wasn't the time for questions. I was getting closer and closer to her. She still hasn't moved from her spot. Finally getting behind a rock to hide, I get the chance to make my first move as well. I peak through the big rock and see her getting closer slowly. She was barefoot, the wind was blowing her hair to directions peacefully and she was completely calm. After taking a deep breath from all the running around, I finally make my diamond barrier from before - the one she shattered - except this time I knew that she could do that so I stacked it with 2 others. I move it towards her and she quickly scoots over to the side, barely missing the barrier. They were fast and took up a lot of space so I make more of them and send them towards her. I could tell that she wasn't expecting that. They all come from different directions surrounding her. There were still quite a few gaps of course because I didn't want to crush her. The flames around her disappeared and I thought that she was about to give up but I was wrong. When the barriers came towards her, she peacefully escaped them by what looked like... dancing?
It looked like how Pearl dances. I was amazed. I mean, who wouldn't be by a view like that. With every step she moved elegantly. When she had already slid through past all of them, she turned to me and I snapped out of my thoughts. I could tell things would get serious now. She raises her hand in the air and flames start forming something. I formed my shield while still looking at it. After a bit, the flames formed what looked like a scythe. I didn't even know she could do that. She looks at her newly formed scynthe and then quickly at me. I had a serious expression on my face. I take off my jacket and tie it around my waist then look back at her. She rushed to me with determination and I put my shield in front of me. The sound of the fire scynthe clashing with my shield echoed on the beach. It continued as she was trying to hit me. I didn't think it was going to be a solid weapon. Even if she didn't look like it, she was really strong. With every hit I was sent back by a few inches. That didn't mean she was stronger than me though. With just one swing I pushed her back and she stumbled, givong me a chance to strike again. I send my barrier towards her and by the little time she had, she quickly put her scynthe in front of her as it shattered along with the pink see-through barrier.
We both were sweating. She was huffing. Her neatly tied hair was now messy, some of it on her sweaty forehead. It looked kind of cute. Even after all this time I didn't take her seriously. How long has it been? Everything was in slow motion for me. I was a bit tired already.
"Come on, is that all you got?" I smirk at her. She clenched her fists tightly. Looks like I hit a nerve. I go into a shield summoning position and wait for her next strike. This one was faster that ever. Before I could even react, there were a ton of fireballs coming right at me. I had no time to count them all since I had to dodge. While she sent them towards me, she also started to run around them quickly. Just when I managed to dodge them, I see her in the air, coming down onto me and kicking me in the face. I fell backwards a bit, further from her. It hurt like hell. I groan from the pain and get up slowly, covering my face with my hands. I was now pissed. And here I was thinking this going to be fun. I groan once again and get up slowly. She was just standing there, by the rock that I was hiding, in a ready to fight position. Being too lazy, I threw my shield at her and formed multiple barriers which I also send towards her quickly. I was still covering my face with one of my hands as I hear her eek and make some other noises that definitely meant I hit her.
