Benji's POV:

Lucy and Isaac have been together since her birthday back in November and we are now in June and are nearly finished with our first year of secondary school and I cannot believe it's been nearly a whole school year already.

Things have changed a lot since Lucy's birthday. For example, my whole friendship group changed. Instead of just me, Maddox, and Lucy we now have Isaac and Millie with us almost all the time.

I wasn't too happy about having to hang out with Isaac at first but after a while, I actually grew to like him again just like I did back in primary school, and we were now pretty much best mates.

It did take a while, but I mostly got over my feelings for Lucy, mostly. I would be lying if I said that I didn't like her still, but I do but I just don't act on it and that's fine.

Lucy and Isaac seem pretty smitten with each other and I'm happy for her. All that matters to me is if she is happy and I couldn't ask for more.

Lucy's POV:

Friday 15th June 2007

It was the last day of year 7 and I couldn't believe the first year I had.

I had gotten myself some of the best friends I could have ever asked for and I had a boyfriend.

We even had our own little hangout and little group and I was so happy that I had finally settled into secondary school quite well.

Like everyone did on the last day of school, we all trekked uptown to the riverbank and hung out there binging on sweets and fizzy drinks until we could no longer move.

As we were walking up, we realized we weren't completely alone, and straight away my nerves came back, but Isaac didn't seem to notice as he continued to walk towards the massive crowd of people.

"Hey what wrong?" Benji whispered so no one else heard with a worried look on his face as he spoke.

"how do you know anything's wrong?"

"oh, you fiddle with your fingers when you're nervous"

I look down and notice I am in fact fiddling with my fingers again like I always do when I am nervous. I didn't know Benji had picked up on these things and that's when I realize that he actually does know me quite well.

"Oh. Yeah I'm fine just a little nervous is all"

"come on. It will be fine and if you ever want to leave then we will, ok?"

I nod my head "ok. Thanks, Benji"

"no problem Bourbon"

And I couldn't help but smile at the wink that he shot me and at the nickname, only Benji calls me.

I remember when the name occurred in cooking when he called me ginger at first and I had to correct him because I was in fact not ginger, but auburn and he had misheard what I said and repeated saying 'bourbon' and ever since the name has just stuck.

We catch up with the others who had walked a little up ahead of us and it wasn't until we were right behind them that I had noticed who was there.

These boys had been horrible to me on a number of occasions, but I hadn't told Benji because I knew he would be the one who ended up worrying the most, and I didn't want to do that over something so silly.

"Hey guys, is it alright if we hang with you for a bit?"

Isaac asked them and I couldn't help but regret not telling anyone about these guys. As Isaac asks the question one of the guys who was horrible to me turns around and looks at his friends with a smirk before turning back around giving me a little look before replying.
