Milly's POV

"Thanks for coming you guys." It is around 8 a.m., and today is the day we go out and spread the word for the carnival fundraising event. There's Doggy, Poley, Zizzy, Pony, and me. Bunny wanted to help but, she had her things to do. I guess we can manage with one person short. (Hope Doggy doesn't get too disappointed lol)

"Now we're gonna break up into three groups. Zizzy and Pony, you two can go around the neighborhood where the school is and hang some posters." I handed them one of the stacks of posters that I printed out yesterday. "Poley and I will take the area between the mall and the city." I turn to Doggy nervously, "Doggy, you were supposed to be paired up with Bunny. But since she isn't here, can you manage the area near here and the subway... alone?" Doggy took the posters and nodded. "Alright! We will meet at the mall once we're done."

Poley's POV

The others got on their way to where they were assigned. Mall and City, shouldn't be too hard. Since the two places aren't that far apart. I start the station's police car and waited for Milly while she cleans her desk before we go. I hope there's a doughnut shop near the city.

After like two minutes, she entered the back seat of the car holding the posters. "Let's go, Poley!" She said as she seatbelts. "Ready for our first mission together?" I looked at her using the side mirror. Since she's new as a police officer, well before the infection anyway, Doggy kind of became her mentor. And she stuck around him a lot. Milly and I don't talk so often. Unless the conversation involves our work. So, today, I hope to get to know her better. I mean, she is my colleague. "Sure I am. I haven't worked side by side with you before. I'm looking forward to it." She smiled, adjusting her police badge. She's wearing her uniform today and not her usual baby blue off-shoulder top.

Milly's POV

We first arrive in the city. We can walk to the mall later. I look out the window as Poley finds us a spot to stop. The place looks a whole lot cleaner and neat. I see people walking along the sidewalks chatting happily. Just seeing these people like this, makes me smile.

We finally stop at a parking spot near Penny's grandma's poutine. I look over and saw Grandma Pig in her poutine making food. I have to say hi to her. I first handed Poley half my stack of posters, and we split up to cover more ground. The city is not that big, I just said that to go say hi to Grandma Pig and maybe ask for a cookie from her.

I immediately walk over to her poutine. "Good morning, Grandma Pig," I said cheerfully.  She looks at me and smiled. "Why, isn't it the hero of us all." I laughed. "What brings you here in the city today? Are you on patrol my dear?" I shook my head no. I took one of the posters from my hands and show it to her. "I'm here to let everyone know about the carnival's makeover. And that we need everyone's help." Grandma Pig read through the poster. "I was wondering if you can help me spread the word?"

Grandma Pig sticks the poster above her kitchen counter. "Of course. Penny and George used to love going there as I babysit them." I smiled. They did say that. Before I turn to leave, Grandma Pig stopped me by saying, "You want a snack before you go?" she asks. Its a cookie jar! "Yes!!!"

Zizzy's POV

Pony and I are just posting the posters on every street lamps we see. Or should I say, I see. I just don't see any place other than the street lamps to stick the posters. It took us an hour or two, and I think the whole neighborhood knows about the info by now.

Our next stop is the school. Zee and Zuzy are in school at this time. So, I guess once we're done, we can just take them home on the way. I entered the school to find the school's principal to give her the poster. Pony just waited outside the school. He's been kinda quiet lately. Wonder what's on his mind.

Anyway, I'm sure the kids here would love these events. Maybe except the Book Fair, but still. It's still fun to read.

I handed some of the posters to the principal. She thanked me and went on her way. As I was walking out of school, I come across the class my sisters are having. Math. Along with George and some other friends of theirs. I peeked around the door, making sure they don't see me. I see them with frustrated looks on their faces. I mean, who doesn't when learning math? I just smiled and continue on my way out.

Pony's POV
I lean back on the school's brick wall. I don't know how to tell her. I tried telling her at the outpost. But a soldier sneaked up behind me, trying to stab me in the back. If it weren't for Zizzy's quick reaction, I could've been dead by now.

Why is having a crush so frustrating!? I sighed. I guess, I just can't help it. Zizzy might be cold sometimes, she is also really respectful and caring. Those days during the infection looking for survivors with her, she always got my back. And she knows that I got her's too. I guess that's why I fell for her.

"Hey, Pony," Zizzy said walking out of the school. She looked at me for a second, "You okay?" That was a weird question to ask from her. "Yeah. Why?" "Maybe its because your face is...red...?" I quickly turn around, not facing her. Ah, frick!

"You sure you're okay, Pony?" She asks again. I cleared my throat and turned to face her again. "Yeah, I'm sure." I laughed nervously. Zizzy still is suspicious of me, but it looks like she shrugged it off. "Alright. Zee and Zuzy's school lessons are almost over, I thought we should wait here for them before going to meet up with the others." Zizzy said. I just nodded.

Doggy's POV

I stuck some posters on the outside of the station and walked around a bit to put more posters up. Didn't cadet know there a thing called the internet now? I guess she wanted to do this the old fashion way.

I guess it's been like an hour or so, and I'm on my way to the metro. Also known as the subway. The subway is not that far from where the station is. Just a 20-minute walk and I'm here. The subway is pretty quiet today. Maybe because it's a Sunday. I just saw some people got on and got off the train as I start to stick these posters around the metro.

I have no idea what Milly was so worried about me being alone. Sheesh. It's no biggie at all. I understand Bunny wants some time to herself. I mean, she has been with us for the past few days. But I'll admit, It does feel weird not seeing her today. She's calm, sweet, and cares about others all the time. Not to mention she's-

I snap myself out of my thoughts. I felt blood rushing up to my face. Am I freaking blushing?! I shook my head, trying to get my head back on track. Focus! What the freak is wrong with me?! I sigh as I continue to cover the metro walls with posters.

Author's Note:

I tried to add some shipping flavor into this, but I don't think it worked. Anyway, in this chapter I want to let you get to know the characters more. Some backstory and how they feel about certain characters.  I'm still learning how to write better stories. I hope it improves soon in the future.
