Ding!
Ding!
Ding! The sound of my phone going off woke me up from my, probably way too long, nap. I grabbed it off of the small beside table and opened them, the light blinding my eyes momentarily.
From: Jordan
Guess who just landed?
I switched over to the second text.
From: Jordan
I rented a car for you. Should be there soon. You owe me
And the third:
From: Jordan
Are you asleep? Wake up, I need to know you saw these
I quickly typed a reply.
To: Jordan
Shut up, I'm busy
I stuck the phone underneath my pillow, hoping that it would muffle the sound if he replied. It was no use. A few seconds later, it ding'ed again. I groaned loudly, taking it back out and reading the new message.
From: Jordan
Tay, make us food

Might as well just get up now. I'm not gonna be able to fall back asleep, I thought, getting up and going to the bathroom. I cleaned myself up and got dressed in an old T-shirt and skinny jeans. I went straight to the kitchen and made some coffee for when Cameron and Jordan came.
I looked out the window. The sun had just risen. I put on a jacket and made my way outside into the cold New York air. There was a black sedan parked in front. Okay, so.. Keys..?
I checked the mailbox. Nothing. Under the front door? Nothing. I groaned and took out my phone, calling Jordan.
"Tay! You're alive!" Cameron yelled from the other line.
"Where's Jordan?" I asked, definitely not in the mood. I leaned against the car.
"Driving. What's up?" He asked, catching up on my mood.
I started tapping my foot, tightening my jacket around myself to shield myself from the cold. "Where are the keys to the car you guys sent?"
There was a pause. Jordan yelled out, "The car is unlocked. The keys should be on the seat in a bag. You better be getting groceries for breakfast, Jardine." He joked. At least I hoped.
I walked to the driver's side of the car and opened the door. "No, Jordan, I'm buying some McDonald's." I replied sarcastically, taking the keys and getting in the car. "I'm leaving. Bye." I said grumpily, hanging up.
I started the car and drove away, putting on the radio and singing along to whatever crappy pop song was on, trying to lighten my own mood. Also trying to get used to the fact that I was home.
I parked near the grocery store and got out, locking the car and going in. I bought the basics: Eggs, milk, cheese, bread, cereal, etc.. I also bought frozen waffles. The fact that Jordan and Cameron thought I was going to make the breakfast for them from scratch was almost enough to make me laugh this early in the day.
Thankfully, the store was almost empty. Just some workers, a small elderly man, a tired-looking woman, and a girl with dark green hair who was the only person I hadn't seen straight on.
I went straight to the check out after I was done, putting everything on the counter and taking out some money. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned. It was the girl with the green hair. "Hi, uh, sorry to bother you.. It's my first time coming to this store and I was wondering if you could tell me where that cereal is?" She asked, her Australian accent ringing through every word. Her eyes were slightly apologetic and a beautiful green color. She was beautiful.
It took me moment to realize that I was staring. I coughed awkwardly, looking away so I could catch my train of thought again. I touched the box of Fruit Loops she'd referred to, "Oh, uh, sure, yeah. Um, it's near the back.. To the right." I smiled at her, motioning to the back of the store.
"Thanks." She smiled happily and walked off. I watched her walk away until the cashier cleared her throat.
"That'll be $27.98." She said, her tone sounding bored. I gave her the money and took my bags, walking out to my car. I put them on the backseat and got in. I drove to the farmer's market and walked around for several minutes, seeing the occasional old face from my childhood.
Ten minutes in, I stood by the apples, contemplating on wether to get any. I'd already gotten several fruits. I didn't wanna stock up on too much fresh stuff since I was only staying for about a month.
"Life changing choice?" Someone said behind me. I turned and saw the girl from before, the friendly smile still on her face.
I automatically smiled back at her, "For them, yeah. So, you're stalking me now?" I joked, wiggling my eyebrows.
She laughed and it was like music. It immediately brightened my mood. "No," she said. "I guess great minds think alike. Hey, what's your name? I swear I'm not a stalker, you just look really familiar."
"I'm Taylor. What about you?" I asked, trying to hide my eagerness. I need to calm the fuck down, she probably won't remember me tomorrow.
"Jenna McDougall. Honestly, you look really familiar." She said, shaking her head. I'd never seen her before today, I'd remember her face. Anyone would.
"I've never seen you before. I'd remember, trust me." I closed my eyes, realizing what I'd said. Hey, maybe she won't notice.
"I moved here about two weeks ago, so.." She shrugged, smile never fading. She started picking out apples and putting them in a bag.
I sighed, realizing that the guys would be here soon, "I'd better go. My friends are coming soon. It was nice meeting you." I smiled at Jenna, watching her choose the apples she wanted.
"Okay, I'll see you around." She said, giving me another smile.
"Count on it." I said, before leaving.
