Corpus Christie, Texas 1983

"And you're sure about this ? I mean I'm all for support as a mother it's my job to but really this is it for you"

"As sure as I am about anything mother dearest" smirking the slightest

Today is finally the day I pack up my things and head to the town where anything and everything can happen. Whether it makes me or breaks me I'm moving to Hollywood, California. Typically it's almost every girl's dream whether it's acting, modeling, musician etc. Me, I'm doing it for the simple one dancing. And here in little Corpus Christie, Texas I'm either gunna go two ways beauty pageants or become one of the famous Dallas Cheerleaders like my mom did. No disrespect to her or my aunts but I believe I'm a little better than just simply being used for a half time show or to be on the sidelines. So I guess I'll make my mark elsewhere before I do that

"Okay that's everything I-

Turning towards my mom for the last time only to see the tears building and a smile on her face

Sighing "please don't make this hard for both of us, I promise to send letters" outstretching her arms I walk into them savoring the motherly love before it's missed for awhile. It's been just me and her for the longest time until she had my brother a couple years back. I love my brother to death and of course to make it easier I'm trying to leave before he returns from school seeing me still here. Yes it's shitty but I just know it'll break him more seeing me drive off with him in my rear view so this is next best choice, I left him a present in his room he'll surely love and ease the pain a little

"Alright alright, go out there and show them who you are and make yourself known to the Hollywood lifestyle" letting go I walk to my 1970 cherry red thunderbird

"Y/n !" Pausing at the door I turn slightly to my mom "Show them how we Texans do it out here" smirking at me

"Always, I love you mom" getting in the car starting the engine I head out the yard tailing 45 mph down the road heading to my wild adventure that awaits me

~ 2 years later ~

Walking into the record store was a routine for me lately, why well simple I love music who doesn't. But that's beside the case I have to get this choreography down by tonight or I'm screwed. The minute I got here early two years ago I've nonstop worked my ass off to get where I am today. Currently working as a background dancer for Madonna. Can you believe it !? She was interested in me ?! I couldn't say no, hell no I took it immediately and since then she's always wanted to have me around for more tours and shows. It's a major step up in my life since I first started, I didn't get it right off the bat no one does hell screw beginners luck. It was strip clubs for me gotta start off small and work up to the top. And I did thank the heavens

Minding my own business couldn't help but notice, well more like feel someone's piercing eyes staring at me. Glancing to the side I see a mysterious man dressed to not impress that is but hey I've never been one to dig the fancy suits and all. Besides if anything this look is doing him wonders, holding a 1999 by Prince album quickly averting his eyes back down he drops it on the floor, aw clumsy

Grabbing the three albums I came for I smile to myself the wheels turning in my head

Walking pass the stranger to the register "like what you see hot shot?" whispering just enough for him to hear

While the clerk rings my total "$27.79" reaching into my back pocket for my money only to be stopped by a voice

"I got it" a smirk evident on his face

"I don't think so, sorry but I'm no damsel in distress" rolling my eyes. Call me stubborn but I'm not one to let a guy buy me things as a way of getting one over on me. I like being independent even at nice gestures like these
