Chapter 2: How I got my speed

- Aidan's Prov
Right now I'm running on the sidewalk already late for a family dinner with my aunt and uncle Aaron and Aphmau and my cousin Alina and I SERIOUSLY have got to get a new watch! I'm running as fast as I can but then I bumped into someone "Oh my Irene! I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed helping the person up wearing a headset that was projecting a basketball game "I'm just, I'm really late for an important date- I mean not like a date date, I mean I do date but-Ugh! I'm just making myself even more late!" I exclaimed and he moved out of my way and I sprinted to the restaurant and the reason WHY I'm late again was because I was busy visiting a friend for our school science project for the Phoenix Drop High School science fair tomorrow and what we're working on is something we like to call a Particle Accelerator and it's basically as big as a plate and what it's supposed to do is evolve how others think from a single atom to a whole new universe, it runs on jumper cables and copper wires and an INTENSE amount of batteries to power up, like, we had to use 4 car batteries but have to make sure they don't explode and we're still trying to keep the Accelerator from overloading and so far? after like, 30 tests that always ended up with the batteries exploding every time until now? it's coming fantastically, this could be just what I need to not only graduate early, but also to find who tried to kill my sister and father, my sister and father live with me and my aunt Aphmau and uncle Aaron but my mother disappeared when I was only 3 years old, anyway, I finally made it to the restaurant where we're having family dinner and I ran in "Hello, how can I help you?" the man at the front desk asked "Yes hi, um, I'm supposed to meet my family here and-" I was about to explain until I saw a familiar face "What took you so long Aidan?" my father Ein asked me "Sorry I'm late Dad, I didn't know what time it was because my stupid watch is broken and I was busy helping my friend Evan with our science project for the science fair tomorrow" I explained as he was leading me to the table everyone is at "Why am I not surprised you'd make it here on time?" Eveline asked me teasing me "Hey! You try having a broken watch and getting busy with a seriously hard science project for a science fair and run miles from a friend's house to here and tell me it's not exhausting" I told Eveline sitting next to her and I really hate how I'm always late for EVERYTHING except school, I somehow always get there on time, anyway, after a few hours of talking, eating, having fun at family dinner, we all started getting ready to go to the movie theatre for a movie we agreed to go to and apparently it's a zombie movie so we went to the movie, watched it, I rate that a four "Zombie movie scale, like four, tops" I told my dad, my sister, my aunt and my uncle "There's a zombie movie scale?" Eveline asked me "Yep" I replied "Hey, did you all know zombies exist in nature?" I asked them "They do?" Dad asked "Yeah, there's this weird species of fungi called "Cordyceps" that infects ants, causing the ants to attack plants which can release spores which in turn infect new hosts-" I was about to say until I saw them staring at me blankly "I'm going full on nerd again aren't I?" I asked them as we were walking back to the car "Yep" Aunt Aphmau replied "Ugh..." I groaned "It's okay bud, you are still the cutest nerd in our family" Uncle Aaron told me then as we were going home, we stopped at a place for some ice cream and as I was waiting outside because my Dad knows I only like vanilla ice cream, I saw a weird looking burn on a security camera so I used the gauntlet on my arm and scanned it since it was given to me every year at school and after my gauntlet scanned it, its supercomputer came on the holographic projection screen and showed me Benzene Methanol "Why would someone steal benzene methanol?" I asked out loud "What's benzene methanol?" I heard Eveline ask and I forgot to mention she was outside with me "Well, anything from nanotech to treating lice" I told her then my gauntlet said Halothane "Halothane?" I said out loud very confused now, then I saw a ball like thing on the wall and my family saw what I was doing "Aidan what are you doing?" Dad asked me as I went up to the ball thing "Wait a minute..." I said thinking "What?" Eveline asked then I took the small ball thing and I know exactly what this is! "This place, it has an Affinity 4,000 security camera!" I exclaimed "So?" Uncle Aaron asked "So, whenever the 4,000 is tempered with, it has a fail-safe that'll release an incapacitating agent, in other words, halothane" I explained and I showed them the weird looking scorch on the wall and they were all shocked I know THIS much, then Aunt Aphmau turned to me "So, what your saying is, whoever or whatever created that scorch mark, picked that lock, disabled the camera and stole what might be lice medicine way before this incapacitating agent could do its job?" Aunt Aphmau asked me and I nodded "Yep, and nobody saw them" I told them and they were very shocked because that is physically impossible "How is that even possible?" Dad asked "It isn't, unless your a Speedster" I replied and yes, I've seen a Speedster only once and it was only a trail of golden yellow lightning then the next day, I was with Evan and we were holding the parts we need for our science project and my family is coming to see us show our project and right now we're walking to the gym and we set up all the things we need to get started and we also made sure to test it before we got here and it works perfectly but right now it's raining so I REALLY hope there won't be a blackout, anyway, after everyone else was interviewed, Evan and I were last to be interviewed then I realized that we forgot the activation button so Evan and I quickly left and got it then I told him what I found last night and he says I'm addicted to this Speedster thing when I'm not and Evan is holding the cord while I'm holding the handle with the button but then a trail of red lightning
