All Hawks wanted to do was stay with you a moment longer, but he had to go back to work sooner or later.
He didn't even understand why he would rather spend time with you, hero work made him happy, but so did you.

"No! Focus!" Hawks thought to himself, he hadn't known you for that long so why were you the only thing in his mind right now.
Hawks started flying faster, he hoped he could escape the thoughts of you by doing so.

It didn't take him long to get to the Hero Public Safety Commission's main building, he landed on the roof to avoid fans and walked straight to the main boss's office.

"Make it quick, I was in the middle of something" Hawks said with a fake smile as he threw the doors wide open.

"I hope it had something to do with The League.." The female said from her desk, she looked already annoyed about Hawks persona.

"Oh it had.." Hawks said mockingly.

"Well.. I need updates. Anything new since the last check up?" The boss asked curiously, last time Hawks updated was when he had just kidnapped you and delivered you to The League.

"Nothing really, I delivered the girl and The League was happy with that. They don't still trust me enough to meet with the main boss.." Hawks told, small little lies but that wouldn't matter, he could deal with Dabi being upset.

"That was all. Let me know right away when you move further in The League", the boss said and dismissed Hawks. Did he really have to travel all this way just for few sentences..
Hawks gave one last fake smile before exiting the room and leaving the building through the roof.

That was one thing off the list, but he still had to deal with Dabi. At least he had the whole day to think what was the best thing to do in this situation.
There was no way he would give you back to the villains, but if he didn't Dabi would most likely burn his wings off for that.

For the next few hours Hawks distracted himself by saving people, but since it was the thing he did the best it wasn't hard to multitask and think about you at the same time.

Suddenly he felt vibration on his pocket, thinking it was you he quickly took his phone out to see who was calling.
Dabi.. He had to answer to the villain.

"Hey honey! Can't talk, I'm working right now!" Hawks said with a sweet voice while flying above the city. Dabi could mostly hear the wind in the background so he didn't pay attention to the nickname.

"Meet up, tonight. Bring the girl.." Hawks heard Dabi say on the other end of the line. Dabi always sounded serious but this time he sounded even more so.

"I don't have her yet.." Hawks answered with a voice that wasn't as sweet as the first one.

"I have a hard time believing you.. Check your messages.." Dabi said and hanged up, Hawks could feel his stomach drop.

He landed on the closest roof top to feel more grounded before opening his recent message with Dabi.
Soon there popped up a new photo.. It was of.. You..

"Fuckfuckfuckfuck..." Hawks wanted to smash his phone on the ground right now, his cover was falling apart and he had no idea what to do.

Hawks looked at the photo better, it was you yesterday, sleeping in the bathtub. Luckily you were fully covered by the bubbles on the water surface, but it still made Hawks mad.

He was mad because you had been right, there had been someone at the apartment yesterday. He was mad because he had fucked up.
If Dabi had taken you then, Hawks wouldn't have been able to do anything about that. It would have taken him a while to even realize you were gone.. And then it could have been too late.
