I don’t know how to speak to you.

You stole my words and my heart,

Heart wrecking my chest.

Chest of riches are loose change compared,

Compared to you I am little.

Little is left in my soul after you.

You have fire in your words,

Words that I have little control of.

Of the little I have kept for myself,

Myself has wanted to return it.

It can’t find a way out.

Out in the world I am an open book,

Book it when I see you.

You scare me because I’ve never known love.

Love is a word that isn’t in my vocabulary;

Vocabulary can’t describe you.

You are a breath of air,

Air lost when you leave.

Leave my heart alone.

Alone is the best place to be because it’s where you can’t get hurt,

Hurt like the fool I am.

Am I a fool for wanting a hand to hold?

Hold on, before we jump;

Jump into something we don’t know,

Know that you don’t have to follow.

Follow me if you feel it too.

Too late to save my heart.

Heart racing to the finish line,

Line drawn in the sand,

Sand falling in an hourglass,

Hourglass counting the seconds that I think of you.

You look like cherry wood trees in a field of snow,

Snow twirling,

Twirling around you.

You are all I see.

Seeing you blinds me from everything else;

Elsewhere roams my mind.

Minding my own business so you I don’t bother,

Bothering my heart with hope,

Hope that I simply can’t loan.

Loan you my coat to keep your heart warm.

Warm is my heart when I think of you.

You are complete, but broken am I.
