Chapter Two

A welcoming smile appears immediately on the woman's face.
-Surprise!- says Sophia enthusiastically making the baby laugh.
-Oh my God, you're home. Why did you tell us nothing? We weren't expecting you-
-Well that was the intention, mom. What do you think of letting us in?-
-Oh, how silly of me, sure come in you must be tired- letting the girls in Miranda greets Roxanne with a smile a little more forced: -Roxanne,dear I'm happy you could come along this time-
-Yeah, it's a pleasure Mrs Evans- answers nervous the girl.
Closed the door Miranda calls for her husband: -Lance, honey come downstairs I have a surprise-. Suddenly from the second floor comes a loud noise.
-Mom, I think Dad is trying to fix something, again- says Sophia with a very amused expression
-I know honey, I have tried to make him stop but now with all the free time he has...- says resigned Miranda.
-Well- Sophia's mom continues- while waiting for him we can go in the other room and I can finally meet my granddaughter-
Entered the living room Miranda immediately sits on the sofa stretching her arms out for the baby. Sophia chuckles at her mother's behaviour and says:- Mom, we can wait for Dad, I think-
Miranda with a childish pout on her face says: -Ok, but only a few minutes-
From out of the door is heard the voice of Sophia's dad:- Honey who are you talking to?-
Lance enters the room and his eyes start shining at the sight of Sophia and of a beautiful baby girl in her arms.
-Angel you're home, we didn't know you were coming- says the man hugging his daughter
-Dad, seems you and mom don't really understand what a surprise is- says Sophia chuckling still in her dad's arms.
-Ok enough, Lance come over here- says authoritative Miranda
-Yea Sir- answers immediately Lance sitting next to his wife on the couch. Faking a frown, Miranda hits him lightly on the arm.
These little scenes make Sophia laugh and enjoy even more to be with her parents; on the other hand Roxanne stays sitting stiff on one of the armchair in front of them waiting for all to end.
-So, mom and dad, I want to introduce your granddaughter, Alma- says Sophia smiling
-Oh my God, look at this cutie- says Miranda sitting the baby on her laps.
-Ehi sweetie, I'm your grandpa, can you give your grandpa a big smile?-
Alma looks at the adults in front of her curiously, now more awaken than ever.
While the sound of Alma laugh fill the room, Miranda says speaking to Sophia and Roxanne:- I'm really happy you decided to name her after Alma, I'm sure her family is going to love it as well. And Roxanne I really want to thank you, I know you never had the chance to meet her, but I'm grateful you liked the name knowing how important it is for Sophia-
-Yeah, no problem- is Roxanne's short answer. Sophia knowing her mother too well immediately says:- Mom, you know it couldn't be in any other way for me and Roxanne understood it, plus look at her the name suits her perfectly-
The three of them look over Alma who's now sitting on the couch with her wolf on the lap watching and laughing at her grandfather's strange faces.
