Katsumi POV-
I put the dress and everything I was planning to get here back before leaving the store. I couldn't help but tear up. The guilt was eating at me. What kind of hero am I? That's what I want to be, right? I want to repair our society through any means necessary... I didn't think having this happen would be one of the prices I have to pay for that.
I make my way to the food court, maybe a snack will make me feel a bit better. I buy a few things to eat and go sit down. That's when Elvis noticed me. "Katsumi? What are you doing here all alone? You're usually with Madonna." He had a point, we were basically inseparable. I come up with a lie on the spot. "She got a call from a friend. She's helping them study, she'll be back later." I knew I couldn't tell him. If he knew, he'd hate me even more, he'd get suspicious, he'd make Madonna more upset when she came back. He believes me thankfully. "Ah, I see."
Elvis POV-
Hours have passed, no sign of Madonna. She hasn't answered any of my calls or texts. I guess she must be with a really stupid kid. I look at the time, it's nearly 10 in the evening. I didn't realize how long she had been gone. We left at 3, it's been 7 hours. Now I'm a bit suspicious. Katsumi is at our house and I told her that, so I don't see why she would stay out so long. I should probably ask Katsumi if Madonna has spoken to her at all. I go downstairs to see her on the couch. "Hey, Kat?" She looks at me in response. "Has Madonna talked to you at all in past 7 hours? She's not responding to my texts or picking up the phone." She looks down, then up at me. "Uhhh yeah! Of course she has. She says she's staying the-" All of a sudden, I get a text from Madonna, but I don't think she's the one who sent it. It went as follows:
If you haven't noticed by now, we have your sister. Tell your parents to give us 1000000 yen, and we'll give her back. However, if you try to take her without paying, the next time you see her will be at her funeral. Sincerely, the League of Villians.
WHAT THE FUCK?! I look at Katsumi. "You lied. You fucking lied!" She stands up. "Listen, man, I'm sorry! I didn't know how to tell you she was missing!" I glare at her, not believing a word she just said. "Yeah right. Now her life is on the line! Thanks a lot, Katsumi!" She scoffs at me. "Well that's not my fault, whether I told you or not the situation would still be exactly the same! You always want to blame me for shit, you always think I'm the bad guy. Maybe if you got that stick out of your ass you'd see the truth!" I walk up to her. Honestly, I want to slap her, but with the stuff I've seen her do in school, I won't even attempt it. "That's how you feel?! What about me?! You're always disregarding what I say, being rude as hell, and you've even turned my sister against me! We used to be so close until you came around and fucked everything up!" She groaned. "Give me a break, Glasses. You're just mad because she doesn't want to be protected anymore. You are so damn controlling and then you wonder why she strayed so far away from you!" I inhale sharply, realizing we don't have time for this. "Whatever, we can talk about this later. We need to alert the-" "No." Is she really that dumb?! "We cannot fight the League by ourselves. I can barely handle other students, if you and me were to go out there I'd be dead in 5 minutes!" She nods. "I understand that, but Madonna is our friend. We can't just leave her hanging until we come up with the money or a strategy, who knows what they're doing to her right now?" She has a point, but there's no way we can do it. "No. Absolutely not. We can't. It's just not possible." I repeat, hopefully she'll get it this time. "Fine, if you want your sister to become a villain or come home absolutely mutilated, that's fine by me. I'm going on my own." She puts her hair in a ponytail and starts to walk out the door. Dammit. I can't let her do that. I run and grab her arm. "Wait! Do you even have a plan?" I ask. She comes back inside and sits down, patting the spot next to her to tell me to sit. I sit down beside her and she starts to tell me her plan. "I need more than one person for this to work, which is why I wanted you to come with me. We meet at midnight at the park, I bring weapons, you bring food and water. I know where the villain HQ is, so you don't have to worry about getting lost." How does she know that? They changed location after her father was kidnapped. "How'd you get that information?" She wouldn't tell me, all she said is that she just knows. Now I'm suspicious again. "There's no way you just know. Either you don't and you're confusing the location, or you know and there's something more going on." She stood up again. "Do you not trust me?" She asks, clearly upset. "Not as much as I used to." She groans. "Can't you stop being skeptical for a minute?!" I shake my head. "Not when you keep dodging my questions and lying to me!" She glares at me. "You really don't know when to shut up, do you, shitty hair?" I stand up, beyond upset at this point. "You're just like your father! Always avoiding problems and trying to hide the fact that you're an asshole! No wonder he didn't fucking want you." She looked at me, tears in her eyes. It takes me a moment to realize what I had just said, and I started to regret it. "Kat, I'm-" "SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP!" Katsumi stormed out the house, and this time... I let her.
