Sadly (for the muggleborns and Halfbloods mostly), the lesson ended and they put their wands away. "You guys go, I'll catch up." Draco said as his gaze flickered to Zabini. Finally, everyone had their things packed up while two Slytherin's lingered outside the lesson, awaiting for Draco to exit the classroom.
Blazing sun shimmered into view behind the Mid-autumn clouds as the gangs of first-years walked from lesson to the Great Hall.
"It's lev-ee-oh-sar, not, levi-oh-sarr!" Ron mimicked, "God! No wonder almost everyone dislikes him in our year!" Groaned Ron as he walked back with Harry Seamus and Neville. Keeping comment in, Harry showed a blank face at the comment, same for Seamus and Neville's ears blush pink. Then, Ron's shoulder was pushed past and the boys saw a head of blonde hair clutching a book to heir chest as he speeded away.Quickly, Harry went to go after Draco, when someone stood in front of him. "Leave him." Zabini told Harry in a calm voice, "He's better off by himself for a bit." Begrudgingly, Harry agreed but pushed through Zabini nonetheless.
When they reached the Great Hall, Harry sat oposite Ron and Oliver wood plonked by Harry to talk strategies for the upcoming game. Decorations for Halloween liner the area. Glowing pumpkins replaced the normal lighting of the ceiling, banners and streamers of black and orange removed the House Flags above the Head of House seating. "Where's Draco?" Harry asked Neville who was to his other side when Wood was talking to the Gryffindor beaters- Fred and George. "Susan Bones said he's in the bathroom with Moaning Mrytle. Said he's been in there all day, hasn't come out since..." Neville glanced at Ron, "Well, you know."
Ron and Harry exchanged glances and now Harry wished he went after him. Loud clanging of shoes rapidly filled the hall. Everyone looked at the heavily breathing Professor, "TROLL! IN THE DUNGEON! T-TROOLLL IN THE DUNGEON!!" He stopped completely, just between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw table, "Thought you ought to know." And like that, he collpased to the ground.
Immediately, everyone was screaming and rushing for the exit. The house colours mixed in a mesh of a weird rainbow until, "SILLLLLEEENNNNCEEEEE!" Dumbledore roareed, successfully stopping everyone. "Everyone will please, not panic. Now, Prefects will lead their houses back to the dormitories. Teachers will follow me to the dungeons."
The Hufflepuff prefects start first, followed by the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors.
"SLYTHERIN HOUSE IS IN THE DUNGEONS!" Yelled Theodore Nott, so the Prefect's redirected then to the library.Percy Weasley led them through a corridor and up a flight of stairs, "Gryffindors...keep up please. And stay alert!" He turned back only to shout that.
"How did a troll get in?" Questioned Harry quietly to Ron.
"Not by itself. They're proper stupid." Harry immediately thought of what Draco would say if he were here... DRACO! With that in mind, Harry yanked the sleeve of Ron's robes so he was pulling the ginger along. "What?" Ron asked, even though he was still being dragged.
"Draco! He doesn't know!" Exclaimed Harry and the two rushed for a bathroom, because they have no clue where Moaning Mrytle's one is.A sickening sound bounced from the walls as the two rounded a corridor. "It's going into that bathroom!" Whisper-shouted Harry and ran off after it.
Inside the bathroom, Draco was sitting down talking to Mrytle- she's a good listener he realised. Thumping, the ground shook in rhythm of footsteps. Finally, Draco lifted his eyes to see a... no, it couldn't be a... a troll! It's head reached the ceiling so the creature had to bend down. It's clothing was loose, ripped shorts and it carried a bat the size of Draco himself.
"Draco, move!" Harry bellowed when he saw Draco too stunned. As fast as a click, Draco dived out of the way of a swing, taking out the bathroom stalls. The two started to throw peices of wood at the troll when Draco crawled over, his leg had a sharp peice of wood in. "Draco!" Worried Harry and bent down to see what he could do. However, Draco wasn't paying attention to his bleeding leg as he cast a spell at the troll, "alarte ascendare!" And the trolls bat fleed back, hitting the troll in his head, effectively knocking the beast off its feet.
"Woah... how did you do that!?" Asked Ron, looking at the troll to Draco in amazement.
"Father made me do lessons in magic before- ah!" He cut himself off as he tried to stand, automatically falling back to the floor, clutching his right leg.
"Hey, it's ok, we'll get you to the infirmary." Harry said, wrapping an arm around Draco's waist so the boy can lean his weight properly.
"Thank you, Harry." Mumbled Draco, a blush slightly on his cheeks.Out of nowhere, McGonagall, Snape and Professor Quirrel barged into the bathroom, McGonagall speaking first. "Oh! Oh, my goodness! E-Explain yourselves, both of you" she directed to Harry and Ron, not noticing Draco's injury yet.
"It's all my fault professor." Draco tried to step forward but ended up leaning more into Harry, "I didn't know about the troll, because I wanted to talk with Mrytle instead... they only wanted to warn me. As you can see," he gestured to his right leg, "the troll found me before they did. But if they weren't here, I don't think I would be.""Be that as it may, it was an extremely foolish thing to do!" The woman exclaimed.
Harry focused on Snape's leg, a large, long cut slicing through the skin. It was quickly covered when Snape noticed Harry looking. "Actually professor, Malfoy knocked the troll out..."
"Oh? And how did you do that, Mr. Malfoy?" Asked Snape in his bored tone; Draco could see he was a bit prideful however.
"I erm... I used alarte ascendare on the bat... it hit the troll in the head, sir." Draco bowed his head to cover his blush.
"V-v-very i-im-m-pres-s-sive, m-m-mister Mal-alfoy." Praised Quirrel."Five points will be taken from Gryffindor for your stupidity!" She directed to the three, "However, ten points to Gryffindor, for looking out for a fellow housemate, and ten to Gryffindor for sheer dumb luck!" The last directed at Draco, who really wanted to say it wasn't, "You three gentlemen, you should appreciate you are still here today. Not many first years can take on a fully-grown mountain troll and live to tell the tail!" McGonagall said and was about to carry on.
"Can we have a lecture later Professor? I'm injured here." Asked Draco, hopping on his left leg, his head bouncing slightly on Harry's shoulder.
"Mr. Malfoy is right, Professor. Surely, you do not want one of your precious Gryffindors hurt permanently?" Asked Snape and McGonagall grimaced but agreed."Thank you, Harry." Mumbled Draco into Harry's shoulder, he kissed Harry on the cheek when he helped lower the blonde onto a hospital bed. Shocked, Harry blushed but smiled brightly at Draco.
"He should be out by breakfast, if you want Mr. Potter, you can stay. It is considerably late." She half scolded. And Harry clung to Draco's hand as the two drifted off to sleep.
