INT. BUS STOP - 7:00
ALEX (15) is seen attempting to solve a rubik's cube through a rigorous street. He stops once he reaches a bus stop.
He drops his bags enthusiastically to greet the tired students who are patiently waiting for the bus. CODY (16), MONET (16), and EMILY (16) stare at him is annoyance, clearly annoyed at the noise of his bags dropping.
ALEX
Goooood morning, Atterwood High Bus Riders!
EMILY
Again? Not everyone gets a good night's sleep, Alex.
ALEX
I said- GOOOOOOD MOOOOORNING ATTERWOOD HIGH BUS RIDERS!
EMILY
God...you really do know how to push my buttons, don't you?
Emily storms off to the opposite side of the stage, annoyed at Alex's insistence to be loud for the sake of being loud.
ALEX
Record scratch! Freeze frame! Yup, that's me! You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
MONET
I'm sorry, Cody- but what's he doing?
CODY
Let him finish his gimmick. It usually doesn't last that long.
MONET
He's fine though, right?
CODY
No idea.
Alex ignores the Cody and Monet obviously gossiping about him.
ALEX
Let me paint the picture. The 30th of May, the last day of school- the day my life changed forever.
MONET
Ohh, I get it now. This is, like, his *Ferris Bueller* thing?
CODY
I guess so. Never seen that.
MONET
Deadpool?
CODY
Nope.
Monet sighs
MONET
Monika from Doki Doki?
CODY
Ohhhhh! Yup!
MONET
Your pop culture knowledge is truly on point, Cody.
ALEX
The name's Alex. Alex Chavez. Full name's actually Alejandro Chavez but Alex is a lot less of a mouthful. I'm your average Hispanic 5'8" high school freshman. Nothing too special.
MONET
He's 5'6", tops.
CODY
And there is nothing wrong with that! He's my lil buddy!
Cody walks over to Alex in concern.
ALEX
Dude, we've been over this. My name is *Alex.* Not Alan.
CODY
