'I have prepared chocolate coated candy apples with a side dish of lemon pound cake which is not home made, for m'lady' Bruno announced poshly, holding onto Charity's hand and kissing the top of it.

'Sit down' Julian groaned, pulling the boy down which made him unconsciously frown. 'Is everything alright. I mean, there was a lot of tension before. Is it all solved?'

Charity glanced over at Kaycee, her eyes fixed on Sean. 'I hope'.

'Good! Now we can eat in peace' Julian sighed, biting into the crunchy apple while the horribly placed sprinkles fell off.

'So, plan wise what are we going to do?' Charity asked, hiding the disgust she felt eating the apple. It was thoughtful, but certainly not tasty.

'I guess we'll just have to go back home, soon' Sean sighed, cutting Kaycee a slice of cake.

'No-we can't just go back home! Are you crazy? We need a plan. If we're caught just randomly strolling back home, then we'll surely get punished and Serris will officially be crowned princess' Charity shouted, in a 'duh' tone.

'Okay, then. What's your idea?' Sean scoffed, still not entirely convinced that Charity was on their side.

'I say we stay here for a little while. Then when coronation day arrives, we secretly go back home. No one can know we're there until Serris is being crowned. Then, we reveal Kaycee and BAM we're good to go' Charity answered, not the least bit offended at Sean's sour tone.

'Cool, then I guess we'll just go with that. I mean, you must be some kind of genius' Sean rolled his eyes.

'Stop it, now' Kaycee warned, pointing a finger to his chest and slapping his knee softly.

'So...you were lying when you said that the tension was all gone?' Julian questioned. Everyone groaned. 'I mean,  Kaycee seems like she's on the fence. Who's side are you on?'

'I'm-um I'm..um-uh-'

Knock. Knock. Knock.

'Saved by the door' Kaycee sighed, alothough curious as to who it was she let the two boys deal with it.

'It's good to see you again' Julian chuckled, allowing an older woman far beyond their years to enter.

'That better not be his girlfriend' Charity whispered to Kaycee, causing the girl to laugh.

The older lady chatted away to Julian and Bruno, as if she had known them for the longest time ever.

'Come join us for lunch' Kaycee heard Julian offer, and that's when Kaycee finally caught a glimpse of her features.

The older lady had an obvious dimple under her eye, her brown hair wrapped up in a tight bun at the top of her head. Serpent tattoos ran down her hands, along with a mixture of scars and bruises on it. Her face was shaped symmetrically, her long lashes curled upwards and her lips painted with vibrant gloss. She looked a little too familiar.

'Come on. Join us' she heard Bruno say. The lady sat directly opposite Kaycee, the lady's eyes focusing on her before she shrugged her shoulders and let it go.

'Hi, nice to meet you. Are you a friend of Julian?' Sean greeted, hand out and open for her to shake.

'Actually, I'm-' before the lady even had time to finish her sentence, Kaycee dropped her plate, the glass shattering into tiny pieces as she rushed out of the house and out.

'I'll get her' Charity started, before Sean held her down and ran for her.

'Kaycee? Kayc? Slow down. It's just me' he tried, trying to match his pace with hers. 'What's wrong? Did the candy apples poison you or something' he tried making her laugh. It didn't work.

'I-I just need a breather' she muttered, her head dizzying at the thought of what might be.

'It's okay. Shh, you're alright' he soothed, rubbing her back and bringing her into his chest.

'Talk to me'.

'I-I can't. I don't know' Kaycee said. 'T-there's secrets about me I haven't told you'.

'Oh no, Kaycees keeping a secret from me' Sean moaned, an octave lower than usual. 'I think I'll be okay with whatever your little revelation is, given the last thing you sprung on me was the only the most important piece of information ON THE PLANET'

'I-i not now' she pleaded, hugging him tighter.

'Someday. But are you okay to go back in now? You don't have to, but if we don't then we'll have to eat the leftovers' he joked. Kaycee nodded her head, drawing out a heavy breath before standing on her tippy toes and pressing a kiss onto Sean's cheek.

'Thank you, Sean'.

She dusted her skirt off, shaking out her nerves before skipping back to the house leaving Sean behind, blushing.

'Come on, Lew. Hurry!' She shouted. Sean sighed, biting his lips for a distracting as he ran up to meet her strides.

'You're back' Bruno mumbled, mouth full of food as the crumbs of cake dropped out. The old lady was quick to take out a napkin, wiping his chin preciously before kissing his cheek.

'Yeah, I just need to cool off from all of this.'

'You alright, Kaycee?' Charity asked, once the girl had sat down beside her.

'Couldn't be better' she muttered, not meaning to be as rude as she shounded.

'I think I know what you're feeling' the lady sighed, tucking her napkins into her pocket.

'No, you don't. You don't know anything, about me or anything' Kaycee rebuked, alarming everyone in the room for her sudden outburst.

'Dear, please.' The lady tried. 'It's been a long time'

'No. Never. Why are you even here. Couldn't you find another man to fuck?' She screamed, causing Sean to spit out his food on the table.

'Woah there. We don't curse here' Sean consoled, rubbing her back.

'How's that fair? So you and everyone here gets to swear, but I don't. Why me? Why am I different' she snapped. Sean raised his hands in surrender, backing away but still rubbing her back as soothingly as he could.

'Dear, let's try to speak calmly' the lady reasoned, licking her lips clean of any cake and candy.

'Don't tell me to clam down. You don't own me. I'm not yours!' She shouted, and if it were possible fire would be smoking out of Kaycee's ears right now.

'Kaycee' the lady said sternly.

'You know her? You guys know each other?' Bruno asked, switching his gaze from Kaycee then to the lady and occasionally Charity because why not.

'M-mom'
