Chapter 5 - Her Miserable Past

I didn't go to school the next day. Why ? I don't want anybody to see me with my eyes red from crying too much.Why? 

It's her diary's fault. 

I haven't cried so much like this, It's irritating I had to cry. I've only cried twice my whole life. Once was during my grandmother's funeral and the other was when Sam and I 'broke up'. Ever since that incident, my peers made fun of me , and I promised I wouldn't cry ever again. 

I remember what Ethan said. 

“What the heck man. You're the only womanizer who's a crybaby.” 

Only my peers saw me cry. Now , I cried because of her diary. Now , I understand why. 

Only then did I realize , that the first time we met… was her 17th birthday. Damn it. 

Her 7th birthday.They still call her Rebecca. The teddy bear she always carries around was a gift from her mom and dad. But they had to leave for a business trip. They died due to an accident. 

First. 

Her aunt adopted her. Her uncle beats her up without her aunt knowing. Her uncle threatened her that if she calls for help , he'd kill her.

If her aunt arrives and sees that she has bruises , she'll just tell her she fell over. 

Second. 

Her aunt discovered it a few months later. Her aunt defended her and they decided to get separated. Her aunt cried for days.

And their daughter , she blames Mary for being the source of  all the trouble. Then she had to point out that Mary was just adopted.

Third. 

When she confirmed that she was adopted , she pleaded her aunt to tell her everything. She said , her parents who died just saw her by the airport , lost and crying.

Mary asked to find her true parents. The day they found out her real mother's address, her aunt's daughter committed suicide , saying that she loves Mary more than her. Her aunt sent Mary away and told her to go look for her real parents alone. 

Fourth. 

She went to her real mother's address. They were rich and she was welcomed. After a DNA test , it was confirmed that she was her missing daughter. The day she was lost on the airport , she had just recently reached 4 years old . But she learned that since the day she got lost in the airport , they were separated and her mother had a new husband. Fifth.
