It's a nice day today. It's not too hot. I stared at the clouds. It was Saturday. And next week's my birthday.

Ever since I hit the legal age, my buddies and I got used to every time someone celebrates his or her birthday, he or she treats us all out for drinks . But I thought , I wanted to invite Mary over on my 20th birthday. There's nothing wrong about it.I'm too old to be a second year student. Well , I enrolled late then I had to take grade 7.

“Ethan, do you know any nearby bar from this village?”

“Why? Can't we just go where we celebrated —“

“I want someplace near.”

“Why?”

“I'm going to invite somebody.”

“Who?”

“None of your business.”

“Yeah , I know one. But we need to ride a tricycle. But too bad , there are no hot chicks in that bar.”

“It's alright. For a change , I'm rounding up more beer.”

“If that's the case , it's settled then!”

I don't know what got into me but I bought a necklace. It's expensive , I know. So since the moment I bought it until I got home , I handled it with uttermost care. Maybe it's my gift for myself.

No , I wasn't talking about the necklace being my gift. What I was talking about is the joy I would receive from the only girl that had me amazed because of her strength to carry on in life…

The only person that made me believe that everything was possible.

It was a crucifix. I just want to remind her that she still has Somebody to hold on to.

When I went to the park, she was there, reading a book. The Little Prince. They say it was a really nice book, and you wouldn't go out of the university without reading that book.

“Mary.”

“Oh Nathan.”

“Are you reading?”

“Isn't it obvious?”
