Chapter 4: I just wanna tell you that you're really pretty girl

Four months later

Lynn listened to her third year Spanish lecturer, as he droned on and on; warning them on how difficult the year's syllabus was going to be, it really didn't help that it was a double period either.

Her phone message notification light flickered with the silent messages coming through.

She waited until the Professor turned his back and quickly checked her phone.

It was all from Chloe.

Bambi

14:06 'Aubrey is driving me crazy'

'14:20 'You should've warned me that you won't be joining us at the Activities Fair!'

15:16 'Recruiting is going really bad'

'15:47 'She almost puked again, at least she got to swallow it this time'

"Ms Jones, ¿tengo tu atención?" (1)

Lynn caught in the act, looked up from her phone "Lo siento, profesor, no volverá a suceder" she replied fluently, while putting her phone away. (2)

Professor Castillo nodded and continued with briefing the class about what the year had in store for them. Lynn scanned through the notes she had made during the class, making sure she jotted down everything.

"Bien, eso será todo para su primera lección del año, asegúrese de prepararse adecuadamente para la próxima lección." Professor Castillo said as he ended the class.(3)

Removing her glasses and gathering all of her belongings as quickly as possible. She stood up, thinking of getting to the Activities Fair to help with the recruiting.

She headed for the exit, but was called over by the Professor.

As Lynn approached him, she caught Claire, her ex, looking towards them curiously, as she exited.

Lynn refrained from rolling her eyes.

They had dated at the end of her first year until the start of their second year, and ever since the breakup, she's been trying to get back at Lynn by trying to beat her in all tests, assignments and exams.

Which she has achieved a few times, but her grade point average still hadn't surpassed Lynn's.

"Lo siento de nuevo, por el teléfono, Profesor." Lynn apologised. (4)

Professor Castillo waved his hand dismissively. "No te preocupes por eso, apenas haces nada malo. Quería hablarte del año que viene."(5)

Perplexed, Lynn continued listening as her professor went on.

"Now, I've been speaking to my fellow colleagues in the Spanish & Linguistics course.." he switched to English.

This confused Lynn even more, he always encouraged his students to speak Spanish when they were in his class. This could only mean that the conversation was about more than her Spanish classes.

"As you might know, it's a requirement when completing your degree, that you need to do four months of hands-on work experience."

"Yes, I was planning on doing some practical work at my aunt's law firm in Washington. I would be working in the translating department. In the cases of clients needing a translator or helping the court reporter with sentence structures and stuf.."

The Professor chuckled, signaling Lynn to halt.

"Well I'm glad you've been thinking about this, but we, your professors, have decided that it would be great if we chose you to join the internship offered by Quill in the UK.."
