*AGSPOV*

Today was Annas grad party, a few of her friends came over early to help set everything up. I was still nervous about everyone finding out we were together. Not because I didn't want them to, but because of how Anna would feel. I just didn't want anything to stress her out. It was a lot for her and if yesterday told me anything, her anxiety was gonna skyrocket with this party. We already got through the party with her family and it went well. No one really questioned why I was there, and a few of her other close friends were there too. Later that evening was the party we really had to worry about.

People slowly started showing up and for the first little while, it was everyone Anna wanted to be there. Mia and Gabi had already arrived and were making sure everything was going as planned. They were helping out so much and it was such a relief to know some of the stress was off Anna.

"You good?" I whispered in her ear as I walked up behind Anna, placing a hand on her shoulder and squeezing it.

"Yeah, but I know they're gonna be here soon." She picked up a cup and downed it. "Carson and his boys love to start fights and if they break anything my mom will kill me."

"I don't get it, why let any of them come?" She turned around to face me.

"Because they're friends with 90% of the senior class." She sounded irritated but I knew it wasn't at me. "Everyone here wants them here too." She shook her head.

A few moments later, Amber opened the door and a few familiar faces walked in behind her, along with who I was assuming was Carson's "boys." Amber was wearing a skimpy dress and I watched as Anna looked her up and down.

"Had to upstage me at my own grad party." She rolled her eyes.

"That's impossible." I smiled and kissed her cheek and felt her smile. Her eyes locked onto Amber as she noticed us.

"Ag!" Amber yelled and ran over to me. "It's so good to see you again, and I love the outfit!"

Amber touched my arm and I could see a fire build in Anna. It was lowkey kind of hot but, she was ready to put Amber in her place.

"Hey Amber, why don't you go find someone else to flirt with?" Anna cocked her head to the side.

"Oh, I'm sorry...is she with you?" She asked playing innocent. "I had no idea, you really love to sugarcoat things online." She laughed and I could tell that one hit Anna deeper. It was like hate comments coming to life.

"Yeah, Amber. Just go find someone else to flirt with." I put my arm around Anna's shoulder and gave her a sarcastic smile. I felt Anna shift comfortably into me.

Amber scoffed and walked the other way, with her little followers right behind her. We caught glares from both Madeline and Katie. Anna looked up at me and smiled a little bit. I looked down at her and bit my lip.

"You know, that might've helped you get lucky later." She grinned.

"I told you. It's no competition." I smiled.

She shook her head and reached up to kiss me.

The party was going great, everyone was having a good time. Anna was talking to Mia and Juj on the other side of the room. Every once in a while, we'd look over at each other and Anna would give me the cutest grin you've ever seen. I winked at her and she rolled her eyes and mouthed "simp." I twirled my finger in the air, signaling a little "uno reverse." I was scanning the room when Amber came up to me.

"Hey..." she said as she handed me a drink. "Thirsty?"

"Not at all." The drink sloshed as I pushed it back towards her.

"Look, I'm sorry about earlier. I wouldn't have flirted with you if I knew you guys were together." She put the drinks on the table next to us.

"Anna told me plenty about you, Amber. Whatever you have to say, save it." I tried to walk away when she grabbed my arm.

"Ag, wait. Let me explain." I stood there for a moment humoring her. "Anna and I used to be friends, really close...like really close." She finally let go, and looked down.

"If you're trying to say what I think you're trying to say, I call bullshit." I shook my head and rolled my eyes.

"I know what it sounds like, but it's true. Anna and I were...together? I guess that's what you'd call it. Then I found out about her talking to Carson, hell the whole school did. She told me she cut him off but, at that point the damage was done. She had already kissed him. So yes, I got with Carson to get back at her and have basically been a bitch to her ever since." Amber looked over at Anna and they made eye contact before Anna looked at me worried.

"I don't believe you, I'm the only girl she's been with. She would've told me." I looked at Anna and suddenly...she looked nervous. Like she knew something bad was about to happen.

"Then ask her yourself." Amber aggressively grabbed her drink and walked away.

What the hell is going on? Why does Anna look so nervous? Surely she would've told me the truth about Amber. She knows my past, why couldn't I know hers? My thoughts were coming in faster than I could process, only because Anna looked so nervous. If this is even true...maybe I should ask. Just to be sure....I walked over to Anna.

"Hey guys!" I put my arm around her shoulder. It didn't feel as warm and comforting as usual. "You mind if I borrow Anna for a minute?"

"Go ahead." Mia laughed. "Don't have too much fun." I shook my head and laughed a little bit.

Anna and I walked outside for a minute. The sky was dark, but the backyard was lit up by the lights hanging between her trees. I watched her face as we walked hand in hand for a moment. She was quiet and she watched our hands swing back and forth.

"So, I saw Amber talking to you." She sighed.

"Uh, yeah...I have a question..." I let go of her hand and put mine in my pockets. "And I am totally gonna trust you, I don't even know why I'm asking...Were you and her ever a thing?"

"What?" She looked angry. "No we were never a thing. Why would you ask me that?" She was so mad.

"Look, she just said some things and I just wanted to make sure they weren't true." I put my hands up to signal a surrender. I was even more confused now that she had gotten so upset by it.

"I told you how she is. She's a liar. She's a manipulator." She was absolutely fuming and I couldn't figure out why it was such a big deal.

"Anna, I believe you. You don't have to get so mad." I tried grabbing her shoulders.

"I-I can't do this right now." She stormed back inside and I watched as she slammed the door behind her.

I stayed outside for a moment, just trying to think of what to say to calm her down, make her feel better.
