~song is mainly for the last half of this chapter~Anna and I had talked while I was in Florida. Day by day it seemed...harder. I knew when I left things would change, but it was so much harder than I thought it was gonna be. Anna just seemed so distant. I knew it was hard for her, to deal with everything on her own. Since I left she had gotten so much hate for not posting about me more. People thinking that she didn't actually care because I wasn't all over her accounts like she was mine. I knew why I wasn't and after everything, I wasn't hurt by it. She had people in her life that didn't know about us and on top of that, so many other things that she had to worry about. It wasn't meant to be mean towards me, it was just hard for her to actually speak on our relationship. Annas audience were simps, and not that she cared about what they thought, but her comment section turned into hell when they thought she was with someone. They would tear her down worse than you've ever seen. Besides, I made it clear to her before that I didn't care if she needed time before opening up more about us. We both enjoyed the privacy we had.
I had spent a lot of time with Soph and Avery, being back with them felt so good. Like home. They were like family to me. They had both been so supportive with Anna and I and made sure we both knew how much they stood behind us. Soph, the sweetest person you'd ever meet, kept in contact with Anna almost daily. She was making sure Anna knew she was loved and cared about regardless of what anyone else had to say. She made sure she knew that she had family here. One of Averys friends from Texas, Ava, was coming to stay with us for a bit while I was here. She was supposed to arrive sometime today. So, Avery and I had snuck out early to get Soph breakfast while she slept after a long night of staying up taking care of dance stuff.
"Ag, talk to me." She said as she set the coffees in the cup holders.
"About what?" I laughed.
"You and Anna, you seem stressed." She explained.
"I...I don't know. She's been kind of distant lately, ya know?" I shook my head. "I know it's just hard for her."
"You guys have a lot of love. You can see it." She assured me. "Sometimes distance takes its toll, can make people become emotionally distant unintentionally just because they want to save their emotions from getting too much."
"Avery..." I cocked my head and looked at her with a smile. "That was good. It actually made sense." I chuckled.
"I try." She laughed. "I just don't want you to freak out too much. Sometimes it's better to separate yourself a little bit emotionally so that missing them doesn't become so hard that you wanna give it up. Ya know?"
"Yeah, I get that. I just don't want her to think that the distance means losing me. I care too much to have to give her up." I felt tears but, quickly pushed them down. No crying.
"Well, like I said, don't freak out. When you guys start doubting each other or thinking something means the end, it can make a situation so much worse." She shook her head. "It's hard work, but if you love someone, it doesn't matter."
We arrived back at their house and walked inside to see Soph awake. She smiled at Avery and ran to her, giving her a swift kiss and hug.
"Thank you." She smiled as she grabbed her drink from Averys hand.
"You're welcome." I laughed.
"Oh yeah, this one was on mcdaddy, I left my wallet." She chuckled.
"You've really got a bad habit of that." Soph shook her head.
Ava got there shortly after we got back. She came in and gave Soph and Avery huge hugs. Her long, dark hair flowed down her back. Her eyes were bright, hazel, and was probably the only person I've actually seen that had actual joy in them.
"Ava!" Avery shouted.
"Oh god I'm gonna get names mixed up all week." Soph laughed.
"God me too." I joined.
"Oh, by the way, this is Ag." Avery motioned towards me. "You've met Soph." She smiled. Ava waved at me and I waved back.
We spent most of our day chilling at their house and filming tiktoks, most of them only to be put in the drafts for us to laugh at later. Eventually, it was time to FaceTime Anna again. My favorite part of the day. I walked into the spare room and hopped onto my laptop. I opened it up just in time to see Annas name pop up. I quickly pressed the green button and then her cute little face popped up. She was smiling while sitting on her bed, hood and blue light glasses in full swing.
"Hey Boonie." I smiled.
"Hey." She waved. "I mith you." She stuck out her bottom lip and I did the same.
"I mith you more."
"I'm trying to convince my mom to let me fly out. It's been a process." She laughed.
"Anna, you have to!" I raised my eyebrows.
"She's gonna say no. I keep asking and the answer hasn't changed." She shook her head.
"Let me talk to her." I joked.
"Won't do you any good." She laughed.
"So, what'd you do today?" I asked.
"I spent most of my time watching half of my drafts and wishing you were still here..." She wasn't joking around anymore. The conversation felt much more serious.
"Boon..." I frowned.
"I know. It's just really hard. I get really busy with looking at school stuff, working, dealing with soccer stuff."
"'Saccer' stuff." I mocked and she cracked a smile.
"Shut up you ass." She laughed a little bit. "If I don't text you a lot during the day, it's just me trying to keep myself from missing you so much by staying busy." She looked down, fiddling with the strings of her hoodie.
"I know, boon. You don't have to explain yourself." I smiled even though she wouldn't look at me. "Averys friend finally got here. She seems nice."
"That's good, is she pretty?" She raised her eyebrows.
"Shut the fuck up." I laughed. "She's a full on 10/10, which sucks for her since you're like a 8 billion out of ten."
"Yeah okay." She puffed out her cheeks and it made both of us laugh harder.
We talked for about an hour about anything we could've missed since the last time we talked. After that, I had to get off so we could grab lunch and go to the beach. Anna didn't look at me much but, I stared at her the whole time. How pretty she was, or her smile every time I said something stupid to make her laugh.
"I love you." I smiled and she finally looked up and smiled back.
"I hate you." She smiled.
"That's so fucking rude." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm kiddinggg." She dragged it out. "I love you. So much." She rested her head on her knee and looked at me with a smile.
"This is all worth it for me." I said as I looked at her through the pixelated screen, wishing she was here.
"All of it." She confirmed. "Bye bubs, I'll talk to you later." She smiled and kissed the camera. I did the same thing before hanging up.
I closed my laptop just in time for Soph and Avery to bust in the room telling me they were all ready to go.
