21. The D Day

Nivaan's POV

"Niv..."

"Hi barkha. How have you been?" I asked looking at her fragile body which looked like she would collapse anytime

"Good I guess, Let's not talk here, Shall we go out somewhere?" She asked looking around.

She was scared of being watched and getting caught by Kabir or his men.

I agreed and nodded.

We reached a nearby park and as she finally took a seat I couldn't help but notice the bruises all over her arms and shoulders.

"I.."

"Should have chose you" she said

"Huh?" I asked surprised.

"I was really an idiot, I thought Kabir loved me just because he brought me expensive gifts and spent so much money on me" she said

She chose him because she thought Kabir was rich? Ouch! That hurt...

"You always loved me for what I was right Niv?" She asked

Loved is past sense no? I love someone else now. And that someone is not you Barkha.

"Niv?"

"Yeah..yeah I did..." I said hesitating

"You hate me for that don't you?" She asked

"You said that you loved him and never loved me, while the fact is that you loved his money and not him either, you lied to me and I believed you, That makes me the stupid one doesn't it?" I asked

"I lied and I'm already paying the price for it" she said

"Why don't you report to the police?" I asked her

"I went against my family and got engaged to Kabir, And now if I tell them he tortures me physically and abuses me sexually, they'll blame me Niv" she said on the verge of breaking down.

"Yeah but.."

"He said he wants to break off the engagement because he has seen some girl at a relative's wedding and now wants to marry her" she said.

"You can sue him Barkha and after that you can just stay happy.." I suggested

"Niv, Can I trust you with one more secret?" She asked

I nodded.

"I'm carrying Kabir's child" she said. "I can't leave him please understand"

I sighed. Barkha loved expensive things and a lavish lifestyle, and somewhere this greed led her to lying and then all of these complications.

I didn't know if I had to blame Barkha or Kabir!

My phone began ringing.

"Hello?" I said

"It's me" the voice on the other side said

"What is it now Wikipedia?" I asked her

"Nivu I'm missing you" she said

"I'll video call you once I get free okay,just give me 15 minutes yeah,bye I love you" I said as I hung up.

"Who was that?" Barkha asked as I handed over her the wedding card.

"I'm getting married Barkha, I wanted to invite you but.."

"I'd love to be there" she said opening the card.

"Inaayat Reza? The name sounds familiar"

"Oh maybe, some mutual friends or something" I said

She nodded.
