3rd POV

Kevin is walking back and forth in the living room, not one corner of the floor remaining untouched by his feet.

It is a habit of his, to pace a lot when he is nervous or worried.

And right now he couldn't be more. Especially when outside there is a huge storm, rain slamming against the window pane and tree branches flying everywhere. What if something happened? Something bad?

His brother was supposed to arrive home hours ago, now being the late hour of past midnight. Maybe he stayed at Anthony's house, but he would've called.

The children are already asleep so that's the last worry of Kevin's.

Obviously, he has called his brother numerous time but with no answer.

So the only thing left to do is to worry. Yes, he is a prick sometimes and mistreats Lucas but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about him. Quite the opposite.

After another half an hour of worrying he decides to make himself some coffee, thinking that maybe that will calm his nerves down. And he also enjoys drinking a warm coffee while outside it rains and thunders.

As he leans against the kitchen counter, taking sips, Kevin remains deep in his worries. When a knock suddenly comes from the front door, and the man can't help but feel relieved, thinking that it's Lucas. But as he opens the door, he is greeted with cat ears resting on top of brown hair.

A wet Forrest is standing in front of him, his wet clothes soaking his skin and draining him off any kind of emotion.

Kevin has the same expression on his face, unimpressed.

It's not that Kevin isn't happy that Forrest is here -he obviously likes having the boy around- the thing is that right now his brother is much more important than his crush.

He groans in stress and leaves the door, Forrest following him, confused of why Kevin is in such a bad mood.

The brunette is starting to get annoyed, he feels like shit considering the wet state he is in. And Kevin acting like an asshole isn't helping his drained mood.

Both arrive at the kitchen counter, Kevin slamming his coffee mug down on the counter and then leaning against it, facing the boy.

His hands analyze Forrest's form, and then he comes to the conclusion that Forrest just walked in a huge storm to get here.

For what reason? That answer remains unknown until Kevin decides to ask, not liking the uncomfortable silence between them.

"Why are you here?"

"I was worried. Lucas was supposed to come to my place after work but hours passed. I called him and nothing. So I decided to come here." Forrest explains, words which make Kevin even more worried.

"Well he's not here."

"Oh... he must be at Anthony's."

"He would've called."

"Not really. Depends on the situation. If they're...you know, I'm sure he didn't think about calling you." Forrest jokes, taking his wet backpack off his shoulder and placing it onto the kitchen desk. "Maybe we shouldn't worry so much. He can take care of himself."

Kevin nods and soon the edge of the coffee mug is back on his lips, trying to hide the smirk when he notices how transparent Forrest's t shirt became because of the water.

He could obviously start teasing the boy, but seeing the sadness and annoyance in his eyes, he decides to leave him alone for now. And he can't blame him for it either, rain can bring a lot of unwanted emotions.
