Chapter 13: Twins Get Separated

Kotaro helped Ryuuichi sweep the dust into the dustpan. You were watching the two doing their chore before someone entered the daycare. "Good morning, Ryuuichi-kun, Kotaro-kun, (Y/N)-chan."

You turned to see Kousuke carrying Takuma but Kazuma wasn't anywhere in sight. "Mamizuka-san. Good morning." You greeted him as Ryuuichi asked him.

"What brings you here today? It's unusual to see you come here yourself."

Takuma took off his sunglasses as he replied, "Yeah..."

"Where's Kazuma-kun? Is he with Mamizuka-sensei?" You asked.

Kousuke removed his hood as he answered. "The truth is..."

"Kazuma got a cold!" Takuma answered for him. All of you were surprised by the news. Ryuuichi and you exchanged looks and turned back to Kousuke.

Kazuma wept with his cheeks reddened because of the fever. He had an ice pack on his forehead. "Where Takuma?"

"I know, I know. Mama's with you, Kazuma." Umi patted him as she told him with gentle voice. "You need to rest so you can get better soon and play with Takuma and the others again. Oh, but first, let's take some medicine." She picked up the cough syrups in her hands. "Kazu-kun, it's very sweet and yummy."

His weep went quiet as he took medicine. "Very good, Kazu-kun!" She applauded him but he began to whine as he still missed his brother.

"Takuma..."

She nodded as she reassured him. "I know, I know. Once you get better, then you can play with him." Kazuma then kept drinking the medicine under his mother's watch.

"We see... So Kazuma-kun and Takuma-kun must both be feeling lonely today." Ryuuichi said as you listened to both of them.

"That's right. They've never been apart, after all... So Takuma... and Kazuma... When I think about how lonely they must be..."

"Like father, like son..." You thought before you felt someone pulling your sleeve.

"(N/N)! Look! Look!" You turned your head to him as Kotaro played with the sunglasses.

Ryuuichi and Kousuke looked with surprise as Kousuke continued sobbing. "He's really so lonely... but he's been trying to smile... and act like everything's normal... all day..."

Ryuuichi turned back to the kids as he watched you playing with them. "He seems pretty normal to me... Is it just my imagination?"

"Sum-glass!" Takuma exclaimed happily before he pulled your finger to look at Kotaro.

"Well then, Ryu, I'll bet 100 yen on 'he's pretty much fine' with you."

Ryuuichi was startled as Usaida spoke out of nowhere behind him. "Usaida-san!" He turned around as Usaida held the coin up. "Don't come out of nowhere and read my mind!"

"Well, don't wear your heart on your sleeve, then." Usaida teased him.

Takuma turned his attention to Usaida as he approached him. "Usa! Hundred yen! Hundred yen!"

You moved yourself to Ryuuichi as Usaida spoke with Takuma. "No, it's not for you. Well, Takuma? Are you lonely without Kazuma here today?"

Takuma hummed for a moment before he responded with a wide smile and cheerful voice. "I'm okay!"
