Ch. 22 "Girl Talk"

                                               Sammie POV

I finally got off the bus after a very long drive, I walked around for a bit looking at all the huge buildings, 

I turned my phone back on seeing a lot of missed calls from Damon, Rick Caroline, Tyler, 

Jeez, I thought 

I texted Katherine, 

'I'm here where do you want to meet?' I asked 

'Meet me at my new apartment' She texted 

Then she texted me the address, 

So I began asking where it was when I was I seen someone I didn't think I would see for a while, 

Klaus thankfully he didn't see me, I hid behind a dumpster, 

I peeked out seeing that he was gone, I headed to Katherine's place after getting directions, 

I knocked on the door, 

Katherine opened the door, 

"My little Minnow!" She said hugging me and spinning me, 

"It's great to see you," She said setting me down on my feet 

"You too Kat," I said smiling, 

"Come on in," She said 

I nodded walking in, 

"So not that I'm not happy to see you my little Minnow but what brings you to Chicago?" Katherine said 

"Well it's um complicated," I said looking at her

She arched her brow, 

She smirked at me, 

"You hungry? I can make a killer pasta," She said 

"You can cook?" I asked 

"Of course I can I don't just feed on people," Katherine said 

I nodded, 

As we sat down at the table eating, 

"So are you going to tell me what's going on?" Katherine said as she leaned back in her chair, 

I sighed after taking a sip of my drink,

"So its a lot," I said 

"Trust me when I say I have a lot of time," She said 

I stood up and started pacing, 

I explained how my parents treated me over the years, how me and Damon became close, then what I found out about yesterday.

"You ran off because you found that out?" She asked confused, 

"Yes, okay I grew up knowing no one cared! Okay and when we moved to Mystic Falls everything started to change, things I didn't know existed," I said 

"Like vampires and werewolves?" She said 

"Not that, people worrying if your hurt, if your sick, if your sad or mad, I didn't know people could care about me," I said 

"Sammie don't be stupid, Everyone cares about you, even I the elusive Katherine Pierce care about you, you are my little Minnow," She said 

"So I've been hearing, but that's the thing growing up the way I did I don't know how to react to any of this, I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about it," I said looking down, 

I felt her fingers under my chin making me look at her, 

"Your supposed to let them care, so you can care back it's called love Sammie, and sure it's new to you, but you'll learn to like it, love is something we have to learn about ourselves," She said looking at me gently, 

"And trust me little Minnow, once you learn to love you learn to feel," She said 

"Really?" I asked 

"Really, My little Minnow, I promise everything will work out," She said smiling at me, 

I hugged her, 

"Thank you," I said 

"Anytime," She said as she petted my hair, 

after mine and Katherine's talk I agreed to go back, So Katherine and I are sitting on a bench in Chicago waiting, apparently Damon was already here looking for Stefan, 

Katherine called him when I was on my way to her earlier today, 

I felt my heart hammering against my chest, as Katherine sat next to me, 

Damon finally pulled up in his blue car with Elena there, 

Me and Katherine stood up, 

Damon Vamp speeded out of the car and was now in front of me keeling at my level, 

"Sammie god are you alright?" He said cupping my face making sure I wasn't hurt, 

"I'm fine," I said 

"Oh thank god," Damon said hugging me with worry, 

"When we get back to Mystic Falls you and I are going to have a very serious talk about you running off to another state," Damon said standing up, 

"Thank you Katherine," Damon said 

"No problem can't have my little Minnow running off on my watch," She said smiling at me, 

"You take care of her you hear me," she said glaring at him, 

"I will don't worry," Damon said 

She nodded and walked down the street, 

He opened his door leaning his seat forward, 

"Get in the car," He said he didn't look happy, 

I guess the reunion is over and now he's pissed that I ran off, to another state, not to mention that I was with Katherine, 

I felt my eyelid start to get heavy it was starting to get dark, next thing I know my eyes are completely shut, 

                                           Damon POV

I looked at Sammie in the rearview mirror to see that she fell asleep, I'm so glad Katherine gave me the heads up on where she was, 

But my question is why did she run off, Katherine was very vague on the details, 

Saying and I quote that's between you and little Minnow now get your ass to Chicago

"You okay?" Elena asked 

"Yeah, you?" I asked 

"We lost him," She said 

"I don't think we did but were gonna save that for tomorrow's problem," I said 

Looking back and Sammie in the back seat after I pulled in the drive way after dropping Elena off, 

I hooked my arm under her knees, and the other arm under her neck, her head resting against my chest,

Now that I know she's my daughter I'm gonna do more than protect her, I'm going to take care of her, 

I laid her on her bed, 

"I'm going to protect you no matter what," I whispered as I kissed her forehead and covering her up with a blanket, 

I took one last look at her before slowly closing the door
