Lily and Lysander start dating at the end of their third year. This wasn't a very serious relationship, like any younger relationship. They break up, get back together, many many times. Lily is a fireball, always getting mad and then running back to apologize. Lysander can hold a grudge for too long. This leads to many I'm-not-talking-to-you 's.
After graduating, they go their separate ways. A few years later they meet again, and eventually get married. Al and James are both mad because she married before both of them, but get over it and are happy for them.
