Nightmares

When I was younger I wouldn't be afraid of the monster under my bed. I would be afraid of the consequences if I had killed it. Like if it's friends came to haunt me, or it's family. I would hate the griping gut feeling. Not now though. I couldn't care less about a stupid monster under my bed. I've faced enough demons for tonight.

"ASIA! WAKE UP! PLEASE!"

I woke up sweaty, my heart pounding in my chest and crying. I hated this. I cried into my pillow but I could not just fall asleep. I didn't know what to do. No word from Asia or her family yet.

What do I do. Should I call them? Should I not call them? I don't know what to do. If I should call them to see how she is doing. Oh gosh, I hated this feeling. It's like the consequences have finally arrived. The monster's friends are here.

I scream, I shout, I break things, I punch myself, I punch the wall.

I can't fall asleep.

I decided to go on my phone until morning since I can't think of anything better to do. I turn it on and scroll through my feed on all of my social media. Then I see something on the news that makes my heart drop through my stomach to my feet.

"BREAKING NEWS, GIRL HAS BEEN ACCIDENTALLY KILLED IN POLICE SHOOTING"

I was so mad. It wasn't a police shooting, it was a murder.

I went straight to the video. 

"Earlier tonight two girls were in a car and one of them had been shot by a police officer by accident. The two girls have both been named as Tiffany Edwards and Asia Washington. Asia Washington being the one shot." The news reporter said. "Her parents Mr Kwame and Ms Africque Washington are with her right now at the hospital."

"The officer has now been labeled as Officer Miller. He has been working in the police force for several years. However, he hasn't been charged with any crimes. The only witnesses have been Officer Travis, the officer with Officer Miller. This is all we know."
