Secrets Of His Origins / a Damian Wayne story

~2~ The Mission ~

As the call started, the screen showed the three JL members. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

"Titans, we have bad news..." superman started, looking worried, which was rare.

"What happened?" Kori asked anxiously awaiting his answer.

"A week ago, two unknown killers started a killing spree in central city. They killed at least 100 people. We tried to get to them, but we had no leads on where they are or who they are. But yesterday they left." Clark explained, but he looked as confused as the titans were.

"How? How did they leave so... easily?" Dick asked

"That's what we are trying to figure out. Anyways, the pair left to another continent, and your mission is to go after them. And figure out their identity." Batman spoke next, and unlike the others, he was calm and unconfused.

"judjing by their technics, we think they are assassins," Diana added

"Assassins? But two assassins isn't that big of a threat" Kori asked confused.

"Indeed, but it's not just that, as you can see, the pair may or may not have powers. Also, they know each of us' weaknesses so we can't fight them, but they do not have much information about you" Wonder woman aka Diana, told them.

"Powers?" Jaime asked raising an eyebrow.

"It's the only explanation for their... mysterious... disappearance," Batman explained

"Also, the way they killed those people wasn't... normal. It wasn't a gunshot nor stabbing or poisoning. They burned their bodies alive" Clark said sadly.

"So they aren't normal assassins?" Donna asked. She was also terrified of the fact that someone burned people's bodies alive.

"No, that's why you are taking care of this. They know too much about the JL." Bruce answered, like everything they were saying was normal.

"We are ready for the mission then, right team?" Koriand'rs asked positively, as usual.
They all nodded. Except for Damian, who stayed calm all the call.

"Where did they go? What city?" Damian asked, knowing that there was a reason they didn't say that earlier.

"Right! We forgot to ask where our mission is" Dick said feeling stupid for forgetting such an important detail.

The JL stayed silent... but Batman spoke and answered both his children's questions.
"Nanda Parbat" he said sadly

"Nanda- what?" Gar, who wasn't educated in geography, asked.

"Nanda Parbat is an island in Arabia," Damian answered immediately.

But something in his voice wasn't right and both teams noticed because when he talks, his voice was full of confidence and pride, but now... it was sad? No... it was maybe... fearful? But why? And most importantly it was full of realization, just like he found out the world's biggest secret. They also realized that, when Bruce pronounced 'Nanda Paraat' Damian's body got tense, and he wasn't comfortable.
They were all confused but didn't show it.

But someone in the room was an empath, and can easily know what Damian was feeling. She knew immediately by looking at his eyes. Raven knew. Damian was feeling Fear

But not any fear, he was scared... more like terrified. But why?! Something in her begged to know. Why was he afraid of a place? Is Damian Wayne afraid of a small island? Thousands of questions were flying around her mind. But she had no answers... for now.

Silence filled the room, everyone was thinking, each of them having their own thoughts.
Some were confused, some were worried, and some were trying to act like nothing was wrong. Those were Damian and Bruce because they both know what Nanda Parbat meant...

League of assassins.

But what were assassins doing in Central city? Where did they get powers?

The thought terrified both of them, but none showed it.

Garfield who was getting bored with the silence decided to break it.
"When are we going?"

"Two days later, And tell us when you find out anything," Superman answered. Getting out of his thoughts.
They nodded
"Well then... I guess we should start working on finding out who and... what they are" Dick concluded.

"Very well then, good luck Titans," Diana said smiling.

"Thanks, we will do our best," Kori answered before closing the call.

And now they had to find out... who are they? What are they?

But most importantly why was Damian acting... different? Weird?
They knew that sooner or later he had to tell them who he is. What he is.

As they each had their own thoughts,

Damian was the most confused. And the one with thousands of thoughts.

Why Nanda parbat?

Do they work for the league?

But the league has no leader after moth-... her death.

Assassins with powers?!

So who? Why? Where? How!?

To say Damian was scared and confused was an understatement. He couldn't think. His brain wasn't working. It was getting hard to breath.

Because he didn't want to. He really didn't want to.

He didn't want to go back there, not at all. He didn't want the memories, he worked four years to forget, to come back. Those... those terrifying memories. He just couldn't. But what can he do? Nothing...

Damian accepted his destiny and started working on the case with the others. He went to the living room where they were working.
The team didn't have a lot of evidence, except a picture of a burned body. A victim. And a video of the pair fighting the police, that the JL sent. It was all they needed. It was a 5 seconds video. But it showed a lot...

The pair were wearing black assassin costume from head to toes. They had no idea what gender each is.
In the video they were using martial arts... so no powers... until now.

But something in them was familiar... to Damian. He knew the moves they used. They were too familiar, he thought.... until realization hit him.

now Damian's heart was beating too fast. His breathing was shaky. He couldn't believe what he is seeing. It couldn't be possible! And now he knew...

It was...

But it can't be.

But it is...
