It was their 4th year at Hogwarts and the students had all been eagerly awaiting the school dance... except for a certain Hufflepuff who seemed to be rather bothered by the idea that the Yule Ball was getting so much attention...

DRACO: Ugh, lunch feels especially boring today
CRABBE: Ya
DRACO: Hey Diggory! Pass me your apple. You weren't planning on eating it, right?
CEDRIC: No, I wasn't
DRACO: Well don't waste a perfectly good snack now

Cedric throws Draco his green apple as Draco catches it with ease

DRACO: Thanks

Just then Professor Dumbledore walks into the dining hall with an unfamiliar figure at his side

DUMBLEDORE: Students, I'd like you to welcome your new classmate, Y/N

Y/N stands shyly letting out a quiet whisper of what sounded like "Hello"
The whole dining hall was now gazing upon the new girl as she stood waiting for further instruction

The Gryffindors seemed to have a puzzled expression on their faces wondering if she'd been sorted into their house

DRACO: Oh great. Fresh meat

NEVILLE: At least she's cute

Draco shrugged then nodded as Cedric looked up. He shifted his attention to the new girl to get a better view

Y/N's POV
—————-

Ugh they're all staring at me.. this is so embarrassing. I wouldn't have even come to Hogwarts if it hadn't been for my mother's persistence. She was the Slytherin queen during her time, if she expects me to be the same she's out of her mind. I don't even have half of her courage to stand out. Damn I really miss my muggle friends right now.

Y/N: Where should I sit?

I asked as I scanned the room, waiting for Dumbledore's answer
Just then, I locked eyes with someone. He had already been looking back at me when our eyes met. Even though everyone was staring at me before, his gaze felt different. He held it for longer than expected. I quickly looked away, it just felt awkward
