"It wasn't your fault."

The Canadian had lost track of how many lies that had slipped from his lips in an attempt to comfort his younger brother. He always did his best to hide the tears that fell because of how often he was ignored, but he would always deny the truth. That it was his own brother that made him feel so lost.

"You did nothing wrong."

If only that were true. If only the blood that dripped slowly from the cuts on his wrists were from something other than the need to feel. Even if it was pain instead of love, he needed to feel something. Anything to get his mind off the growing void in his chest.

"I know that you love me."

That couldn't be more wrong. In fact, every action the American made only forced him to believe the opposite. Every time he was forgotten, every time he was overlooked or ignored. Everything made him feel that much more alone.

"I'm ok."

Two simple words that held so much meaning. Those two words told of where he wished he was instead of the lonely darkness that kept such a firm grip on him, never giving him a chance to enjoy the bright world everyone else experienced.

"I'll stay alive for you."

So many lies and the one phrased he wished he could deny was the only truth. The only reason he was still breathing was because of his brother. Even though he knew he wasn't needed, the few times the American would come to him for advice or company was enough to keep him alive. He was only waiting for the truth in even that to fade completely.
