riley was full of nerves as she sat in the almost empty airport terminal. it felt so lonely, just her and the smoothie in her hand. a few others were scattered around, and riley wondered why they were there. where they were going.
clay was full of nerves too. he was gonna be the one to pick riley up, and goddamn was he nervous.
she was actually coming back to florida, and they were gonna reunite and it would be like a cheesy hallmark movie, but clay was ok with it.
even though she hadn't boarded yet, and her flight was two and a half hours long, clay was already nervous for when he had to pick her up.
he had spent the day before cleaning out his car, making sure it was as pristine as when he first bought it. he vacuumed everything, even the floor mats and even underneath them. he cleaned out the trunk, made sure the windows were clean inside and out. he made sure there wasn't a speck of dirt on the outside. he bought he air fresheners so it smelled nice. he wasn't entirely sure the smell, though.
now he was worried about himself.
his hair was longer than normal since he had been locked inside, but he had spent the night before trying to find the style that made him look best.
nick had been unreachable, so he had used george for advice, even though that was probably a terrible idea.
now he was on facetime with george, his nerves high as he tried to figure out what to wear.
george rolls his and laughs, "dream, you're going to be fine."
clay shakes his head, grabbing a different shirt.
"but what if she doesn't like me, dude?"
"she wouldn't have asked you to pick her up if she didn't like you."
clay rolls his eyes, shaking his head and reaching for his phone.
"yeah, sure, whatever."

riley smiles at how easy that actually was. she expected at least a little resistance. i mean, she was basically asking clays best friend to snitch on him. that was an asshole move to pull, and george did it with no hesitation.
well, she did drive a hard bargain. five bucks and mcdonald's? best deal of george's life.
she glances around the airport one last time as boarding was called. not many people on the plane. not many people in the airport. she felt alone, which was probably a good thing.
she stood, grabbed her backpack, and headed for the terminal.
