Mallory's POV

Stop.

Stop!

Stop it!

Leave me alone!

I was forced to peel my eyes apart to see who wouldn't let me sleep!

But once I saw Cambri's face on the verge of tears, my anger just got pushed down the stairs and ended up with a broken neck.

" Cammy?"

My throat hurts.

" Hey. "

She really looked like she was about to cry. So I reached out and patted her face.

She let out a snort.

" Hi. "

" How you feeling? "

Literally like hell.

" Hot. "

I felt sticky with all the sweat on my body.

" Okay, well come on. Let's sit you up. "

She helped me sit up straight and handed me a large glass of water.

" You need fluids. Here. "

The glass felt like it was a hundred pounds. Which is why I almost dropped it.

Good thing Cambri was there to help me.

She held her hand under the bottom of my cup and helped guide it to my mouth.

Every fiber of my body was trembling like it was just given an ice bath.

So it was no surprise when the water had been spilled on my shirt.

" Oh! "

Cambri yelped in surprise and immediately set the cup on the floor.

Then she used her sleeve to dab at the wetness of my mouth and jaw.

I could only let out a pathetic groan.

I can't pinpoint what the groan was for, to be honest.

" Can you do it for me? "

She looked confused.

" You mean... feed it you?"

I know it seems spoiled but don't I get a pass for being sick?

" Of course! "

" Too loud. "

She almost burst my eardrums. Ugh, I felt pathetic.

" Sorry. Sorry. "

She apologized twice.

Then she lifted up the glass once again and gently brought it to my mouth.

I planned to take it a few sips at a time but I turned out to be really thirsty and the huge glass of water was drained in an instant.

I smacked my lips a little not really feeling satisfied but more aware of my surroundings.

But mostly more aware of my temperature.

I was so dazed I didn't notice that I was on fire!

Too tired to make any corny jokes about that statement.

It's was like being in a sauna while wrapped in a giant burrito wrapping.

Does that even make sense?

I started to helplessly tug at the layers of cotton engulfing my body.

" It's too hot!"

I whined.
