“Okay, spill.”
Heeseung dropped his tray beside Jungwon’s and leaned in dramatically, eyebrows wiggling.
Jungwon sighed and focused very hard on peeling the lid off his yogurt. “There’s nothing to spill.”
“Liar,” Jay chimed in from across the table. “You’ve been smiling like a maniac for three days.”
“Every time your phone buzzes,” Sunghoon added, “you light up like a K-drama protagonist in the rain.”
Ni-ki made a fake swooning sound and clutched his chest. “‘She texted me back!’”
Even Sunoo, who usually took Jungwon’s side, was smirking. “You’re totally whipped.”
Jake nodded sagely. “And I, for one, am proud of you, bro.”
Jungwon finally looked up, cheeks pink. “You guys are literally the worst.”
“Maybe,” Heeseung said, “but we’re the worst and we were right.”
“Fine,” Jungwon mumbled, poking at his rice. “I like her.”
“Oooooooh,” the entire table chorused.
“Wait,” Sunghoon leaned in, grinning. “So, does she know you like her? Or is she still in the falling-in-love-through-cute-texts phase?”
“We’re past the texts,” Jungwon said, a little defensively. “We’ve been hanging out.”
“Ohhh,” Jake raised an eyebrow. “Like dates?”
“No! Well, maybe. It’s just… I don’t know. It’s her.”
That shut them up for half a second.
Then Sunoo let out a dreamy sigh. “Okay, I can’t even roast you anymore. That was adorable.”
“Seriously,” Ni-ki said. “That sounded like a confession monologue.”
Jungwon groaned and buried his face in his arms.
But when his phone buzzed in his lap—and Jiwon’s name lit up the screen—he didn’t even try to hide the smile that stretched across his face.
Heeseung caught it and pointed. “There it is again! The grin! He’s gone!”
Jungwon, still smiling, shook his head.
Maybe he was.
But honestly? He didn’t mind falling—especially if it was for someone like her.
