Song for chapter Edge of Seventeen ~ Stevie Nicks
***
The morning of the first task was filled with a flurry of emotions. Madeleine had seen a pale looking Harry at breakfast and noted that he looked as though he might be sick. Cedric had looked more confident but gave her a nervous smile when she passed by, even the confident Fleur Delacour seemed to be on edge. After lunch Madeleine and her friends had made their way to the Arena that was set up for the task.
"I wonder what the task will be?" Said Portia eagerly.
"Dunno, don't really care to be honest" replied July. "The only reason I'm here is because Viktor Krum is hot."
"Diggory is way hotter than Krum!" Cried Portia.
"On what planet!"
"Guys would you shut up it's starting!" Whined Alice, which successfully shut the pair up. Everybody watched as Cedric Diggory entered the arena to face his dragon, when he successfully retrieved his egg the students from hogwarts erupted into cheers. Madeleine was pleased to see Fleur successfully complete her task as well and she couldn't deny that she was impressed by Viktor Krum's use of the Conjunctivitis Curse, but let out a laugh when his dragon stumbled around and smashed all the real eggs. Finally it was Harry's turn to face his dragon and Madeleine was on the edge of her seat, a sea of potter stinks badges filled the arena which probably wasn't a big help for Harry's confidence. Luckily the young Gryffindor had managed to get past the Hungarian Horntail and retrieved his golden egg, Madeleine screamed and shouted along with the rest of the crowd. The atmosphere was like nothing she'd ever experienced before and Madeleine for some reason felt extremely proud for the young Gryffindor.
The first task of the TriWizard Tournament was not at all what Madeleine had been expecting at all, personally she couldn't believe Dumbledore would let Harry actually take part considering he was underage and was even more shocked when she saw the dragons. Most of all Madeleine was very glad that it hadn't been Portia's name that was drawn out of that hat, for Madeleine couldn't help but fear what could be coming next.

Madeleine had been writing to Bill for the past couple of weeks, and whether she liked it or not she was beginning to feel attached to the curse breaker many miles away. Over the course of this Madeleine had learnt many things about Bill Weasley, he wrote about his life in Egypt, his close relationship with his family and the pressure he feels to be a good role model for his siblings. Madeleine had also found herself opening up, she had sent Bill a long, curated list of all the muggle songs he just had to listen to, she kept him up to date on what was happening at Hogwarts and promised that she would do her best to keep Fred and George out of trouble - not that the idea of the Weasley twins not being in trouble actually sounded like a feasible idea. What Madeleine had been taken aback by was how willingly she made herself vulnerable to him, she had revealed her anxieties about the future and even told him about how much she missed her mum.
