OLIVIA'S POV:

I walked through the crowd of people till I saw Alejandro, standing on his own. He smiled when he saw me, picking up two glasses of champagne from a tray and handing one to me.

"Pass" I said, waving the glass away.

"What's wrong?" he asked, placing both glasses on the side. I shook my head, folding my arms and looking at the bar where Mattia was arguing with Maria. He was red in the face and thankfully the music was loud enough to drown them out.

"I take it you guys didn't resolve anything?" said Alejandro. I scoffed, watching Maria walk away from Mattia.

"Do we ever?" I replied. A brown haired girl walked over to Mattia, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the dance floor. I narrowed my eyes, biting my lip as they started dancing to the music.

"Look at your man" said Alejandro, nudging my shoulder. I sighed, ignoring him as he kept talking.

"You see how good he looks?"

"Maybe" I shrugged, folding my arms.

"Now imagine another woman enjoying him and you not meaning shit to him anymore"

My head snapped around to Alejandro who had a proud smile on his face as he gestured towards the dance floor where Mattia was with someone else.

"Exactly, now get your act together" he said, giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

"Thank you" I said. I took a deep breath and walked over to the dance floor. Mattia had his back to me and the girl dancing with him saw me walking over, quickly wrapping an arm around his neck. I recognised her as one of the soldiers from Nikolai 19.

"He said he doesn't fuck with you" she shouted over the music. Mattia furrowed his eyebrows at her before turning around and seeing me. I smiled at the girl, placing my hand in Mattia's. He raised an eyebrow first, but then relaxed his hand into mine.

We'd always been a perfect fit like that.

"And don't even make me tell you what he said about you" I said, pulling him away from the dance floor. I heard her calling me names but kept walking, feeling Mattia's fingers wrap around my hand as I found the exit doors.

"Did I always make you that jealous?" he smirked, leaning towards me with his hands in his pockets. I folded my arms and narrowed my eyes at him, we both knew the answer to that.

"I'm sorry" I mumbled, looking at the ground.

"What?" he said, cupping his hand behind his ear with a grin on his face. I rolled my eyes and looked out into the night at the empty parking lot.

"I'm not saying it again"

"So the woman who wants to take down my whole mafia, just said sorry and admitted she was in the wrong?" he said, leaning up on his toes like a giddy child.

"I still plan on taking you down" I said.

"In the sheets or?"

"Fuck you!" I cringed, shoving him in the chest but not hard enough to hurt. Never that.

"Is that a threat or are you asking?"

I facepalmed and turned away from him for a second. I wanted to have a serious conversation but it seemed like the several glasses of champagne were beginning to show in him.

"I'm kidding" he said softly, placing his hands on my hips and turning me to face him.

"Now what did you really want to speak about?"

"I don't know" I said "Alejandro just kept going on about how there could be a chance that one day I wouldn't mean anything to you anymore and I just-"

"Hey, slow down" he whispered, rubbing his hands up and down my arms which were starting to get colder. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him at the same time.

"That's never going to happen, Liv" he said "I spent a whole year away from you and there wasn't a day where you didn't cross my mind at least once"

"Really?" I asked, looking up at him. His face was a soft shade of red as he nodded slowly "but Mattia we argued so much, all that hurt-"

"So? The past is a lesson, not the whole story" he said "I couldn't marry Maria, I couldn't do that to you"

I smiled at him, feeling little butterflies in my stomach. All this was going to make my mafia targets a lot harder to achieve. But none of that really seemed to matter to me right now.

"God I missed this" I said, watching the corners of his lips curve upwards.

"I missed us" he said, tilting my chin upwards with the tip of his finger and kissing my lips softly. I smiled for a second before easing into the kiss, placing both my palms on his black satin shirt.
