I didn't get home until late and opened the door to a sort of quiet house. I heard was the sound of dad speaking softly, so I followed the noise to where he was in the living room.

"Hey D-" My voice died down and I froze in my spot as I looked towards the couch. Dad was sitting on the couch, holding tightly to Athena who leaned into him with shaking shoulders. She was sniffling and he was mumbling something to her as he rocked them gently back and forth.

"I know, my love, I know," he said steadily as she hiccuped. She was mumbling something to him again that only he could hear and I got caught staring. Opening my mouth, he froze me with a look. He looked exhausted and gestured for me to go upstairs.

I head straight to Lynne's room where she was staring intently at something on her laptop and I shut the door behind me.

"Where's Mom?" I asked her and she pushed her glasses up.

"Doing some mother-daughter wedding stuff with Zel I think why?"

"I think Athena is crying," I said bluntly and Lynne's head whipped up.

"Does Dad know?"

"Yeah he looks like he's calming her down," that seemed to calm Lynne down and I sighed, shoving my hands in my pockets. "Do you know what's going on?"

"No," she shook her head and sighed. "I don't know. Sometimes I see her really sad and she sits with Dad or sometimes she'll go visit Dad at work and she'll be fine but when I ask her about it she says don't worry about it. And when I ask Dad if everything is okay he always says 'Lynne I'm your father. Of course, everything will be okay'," she deepened her voice to mimic Dad's and it sounded pretty close to him.

I bite my lip thinking about how much I really don't know about my sisters. I said I would fix that. I vowed I would fix it. And here I am being a little shit.

"I hope she's okay."

"C'mon. Dad can handle anything Rand. Now get over here and write my essay!" I couldn't help but chuckle as I chucked off my shoes and crawled onto her bed. So far she had a rough outline and I tried to fix the mess when the door burst open. Lynne yelped as Zelda walked in with her nose in the air.

"Lynne, I need to talk to Randall," she said and Lynne arched an eyebrow and looked around the room.

"Huh? Coulda thought your room was down the hall. I must have been sleeping in the wrong room my whole life huh?"

I nudged her to not provoke Zelda, before looking back at the girl in question.

"Spit it out Zel," I shrugged not really caring if Lynne were present or not.

"Okay fine," she said putting her hands on her hips, "I don't like the fact that you arrived late today."

"I told you it was my bad Zel. Won't happen again," I shrugged off. I knew she got annoyed but I didn't think it would still be on her mind after the entire day went by.

"Yeah, but you were late because you were hooking up with some... guy."

"No, II was late because I slept through my alarm and decided to come home to take a shower and change so I didn't come in clothes from the night before Zelda," I said moving the laptop and sitting straighter.

"Because you were having a one night stand."

"Yeah, that's how those work Zelly!" I said getting louder because she was. She crossed her arms and scoffed.
