When Clay woke up, there were a few seconds where he was completely happy. George was next to him, holding onto his waist. He was with him. It was inevitable, his happiness. Although it only lasted a few seconds, before he realized it was his last day he could wake up like this.
It only took a few minutes of Clay's breathing slightly speeding up to wake George. George looked up at Clay, smiling just like his friend had been just moments before. He wanted to ignore the despair he felt in his heart. He didn't want to say goodbye to his other half.
Without saying a single word, they both knew they were feeling the exact same thing. Clay pulled George closer towards him, wanting to lay there for just a a few minutes more. After laying there and holding each other like they were holding on for dear life, they pulled apart and sat up.
"I better start packing. My flight is in a few hours."
"I can help. I'll get your stuff from the bathroom."
George walked into the bathroom and started to pick up all of Clay's things: A hairbrush, his toothbrush and toothpaste, and his hoodie that was sitting on the floor. George sat down everything in his hands before picking up the hoodie. He slowly bent down, grabbed it, stood up, and held it close to his face. It still smelt like Clay.
"Is there anything I need to grab, or do you have it all?"
Clay was behind George standing in the doorway. George slowly turned around, still grasping the hoodie tightly. His eyes were glassy, glazed over with tears.
"Do you have to leave today?"
He barely got a word out without his voice shaking.
"Oh George, come here."
Clay walked up to him an into a hug. They stood there for a while before Clay broke the silence. He didn't want to end their moment, but he didn't want George to get upset more.
"I'll come visit again. Soon. I promise. I have to go, my family needs me and I ran out of prerecorded videos for the channel."
"You could record them here?"
"I have to go, George. I am so sorry. I wish I could stay here forever, I really do. It's just complicated at home right now. Do you wanna go get some lunch before we go to the airport?"
George nodded, and handed Clay the hoodie. They grabbed all of Clay's bags, with George leaving the room first. A few moments later Clay followed, and they headed to the car.
Clay loaded his bags into the trunk, and sat down in the driver's seat. George didn't like driving too much, even though it was his car.
"So where do you want to go eat?"
Clay looked at George with a face that made it seem like the dumbest question on Earth.
"Is that even a question?"
George knew the answer already, and told Clay exactly where to turn to get there. They went through the drive-thru because his flight had been bumped up a couple of hours. George ordered some chicken mcnuggets while Clay got a mchicken. Then they were off to the airport. Time passed every second, one second closer to the dreaded moment.
------------------------------------
After an hour that passed in the blink of an eye, they pulled into the airport parking lot. They sat in the car, with the only noise being the hot air blowing out of the vents.
