Clara's apartment

{Y/n} drops by Clara's apartment after having the time to think over what to say. The guilt she had still haunted her and became almost unbearable at times.

Talking about it to Clara would hopefully help lift some weight off her shoulders. After all, it was now or never.

"What happened to him? To Danny. What happened while I was gone," Clara asked softly, looking down into her cup as a distraction to keep her from crying.

She looked and sounded horrible. Voice hoarse. Their cheeks were stained with tears, and their eyes were puffy from how much she had been crying.

"Where would you like me to start?" {Y/n} asked, softly.

"I don't care really. I just... I want to know. That's all," Clara says.

"Well, the Doctor and I first made contact with him at 3W. I had to make sure it was him I was speaking with and not something else pretending to be him,"

"As much as I knew it was Danny I was speaking to. Just by the way he worded things. The Doctor made it clear I couldn't trust him unless I was absolutely certain it was him..."

"And was it him? Was it Danny?" Clara asked.

"I don't know," she frowned.

"What happened next?"

"All the tanks inside the building were actually Cybermen. An army of Cybermen. One of which I was stuck in a room with. I did a stupid thing and tried tricking the soldiers into thinking I was the Doctor, but that plan backfired on me. There was this one Cyberman, though, that looked and sounded different from the rest. I couldn't quite pinpoint why, but I was sure of it."

"How did you know it was different?" Clara asked.

"I didn't. It mentioned something about my mother. Something I don't tell many people about..." {Y/n} trails off sadly.

"What happened after that?"

"Next thing I know, I wake up in the middle of a graveyard surrounded by Cybermen," She says.

"At least someone had it going for them,"

"I saw the same Cyberman from before and decided to confront it...After arguing with this thing for what felt like hours, he took his face off to show that it was Danny all along," {Y/n} said, making Clara place her hand over her mouth.

"He...he just didn't want to feel, again. All he felt was pain and he just wanted it to stop. I didn't know what to do..." {Y/n} stops, averting her eyes away to blink away some tears.

"It was painful to witness the distress he was in. I just wanted to make the pain go away for him, but the only way I could do that was if I activated his inhibitor," {Y/n} couldn't hold it anymore; the lump in her throat only grew, making it harder for her words to come out properly.

"I didn't want to do it, Clara. But it was the only way I could stop the pain for him. And the Doctor. He needed to find out what Missy was up to. I didn't let him go without him knowing just how much you loved him, Clara. I just wish you were there to say it to his face,"

The two sat together, tears now syncing in with each other's.

"In the end though, Danny was the hero. He sacrificed himself. He's a good man, Clara. And guess what? He died doing what he does best..." {Y/n} says.

"Saving the world," Clara smiled.

She reached over and took Clara's hand in hers, making sure to get her attention.
