"You are coming to visit Ron with me, right?" Hermione asked as she paced up and down the common room. I gave her a look.

"Lavender would be off with my head before I could even see the bloke. Besides, we aren't exactly friends at the moment." I pointed out, and Hermione winced.

"Suppose that's true about Lavender. Ron does want you there, you know that right? You don't have to be talking to be friends." She stared at me pointedly until I looked away.

"It's complicated, 'Mione. I know he wants me there as a friend, and five months ago I thought he had a crush on me. I don't think I should go." I decided gently. Ron wouldn't know I wasn't there, and Lavender wouldn't be able to pick another pointless fight with him over nothing.

"As your friend, and as his friend, I can't accept that. You simply have to come, and if I have to enlist the help of Harry to do so, don't think I won't." She threatened, and I laughed.

"Harry? What could Harry possibly do?" Harry, cute as a button and wouldn't hurt a fly.

"Oh, did I say Harry? I meant Fred and George." It was Hermione's turn to laugh at the look of outrage on my face, and I found myself smiling back.

"I'm going for five minutes. And if Lavender is there, I'm bolting." I said, and Hermione nodded.

"Perfectly understandable. No better time like the present, right?" She grinned gleefully as she tugged me up from my seat, and I scowled. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Hermione didn't give me any time to change my mind as she pulled me through the halls, and I sighed.

"Let me breathe, 'Mione!" I exclaimed, and she stopped, giggling.

"You're finally going to visit him, Y/n! I'm just so happy! I'm telling you, he's going to know you're there. He can sense your presence, Harry thinks." Really, Hermione of all people ought to know how bullshit that was.

"You know that everything that comes out of Harry's mouth is a lie, right? Next thing I know you'll be saying James Potter didn't strut." Hermione only laughed before continuing to walk to the hospital wing, and I felt nerves building in my stomach.

"Stupid Ron, and these stupid feelings." I muttered, and Hermione ignored me. Not like she could relate. Although, with the prolonged stares Fred keeps sending her way, I wonder.

Quickly, too quickly, we were stood outside of the hospital wings. The tall doors looked formidable, and I took a deep breath. I had nothing to be nervous about.

"Come on." Hermione murmured softly, and she squeezed my hand. I squeezed her hand back, and we pushed open the doors of the hospital wing. The first thing I saw was Lavender, and Hermione must have seen her too because she tightened her grip on my hand. I saw Ginny on the other side of Ron, and she sent me a comforting smile. The teachers were at the foot of the bed, but the centre of my attention was the unconscious boy lying in the hospital bed.

"What's she doing here?" Lavender spat, standing up from her chair, and I felt anger all over.

"I might ask you the same question!" I shrugged Hermione's hand off of mine and stepped forward.

"I happen to be his girlfriend!" She all but shrieked, and I remembered who I was.

"I happen to be his friend." I said, and she snorted.

"Don't make me laugh! You haven't spoken in weeks. I suppose you want to make up with him now that he's suddenly all interesting." Lavender glared at me, and if looks could kill, she would be the dead bitch on the floor, not me.

"He's been poisoned, you daft dimbo." Hermione cut in, and she sent me a reassuring glance.

"And for the record I've always found him interesting." I added pettily. Ron gave a sudden stir, and we fell silent. Well, everyone except Lavender fell silent.

"Ah! You see, he senses my presence. Don't worry Won-Won, I'm here." She paused. "I'm here." She whispered, all eyes fell onto Ron.

He began murmuring something unintelligible, and I leaned forward. I felt Hermione's gaze on me, and I couldn't do anything but look at Ron. The ball was in his court. He only let out another round of incoherent whispers, and I sighed.

"Y/n." It felt like time froze as he whispered my name, and I locked eyes with Lavender.

"Y/n." He whispered again, and she ran out of the room with a choked sob. I looked at Hermione, who nudged me towards the empty chair Lavender had left behind. Ginny nodded approvingly, and it was under the gaze of three professors and my headmaster than I held Ron's hand for the first time.
