Ch 27: Already Fallen for You

"Pa you are awake!", Liang went quickly to Wei who was sitting on the bed.

"Baby! Are you fine? How are you feeling?", asked Wei gently caressing Liang's face. Wei was very worried for Liang and seeing him cheerful was a great relief to him.

"I have slept so much and I am fine Pa. Doctor uncle also said that I am good and I can go home."

"But you have to take rest baby, alright!"

"Yes Pa, I don't want to stay here in this hospital. I don't like it. Can we go home quickly now?"

Before Wei could say anything, Yunlan interrupted, "Bunny, your Pa needs to take some more rest. He is still tired. Why don't you go home with Granny? And I will soon bring your Pa back to the home."

"No! I will be with Liang. He is not going without me.", Wei didn't want to let Liang go at all. Yunlan gestured Liang making him remember his promise.

"Pa I can go with Granny. You have to rest. Please sleep and come back to the home soon today. Okay?", Liang spoke very sweetly to Wei.

"Yes Wei, you must take more rest here. Please don't worry, I will take care of Liang. Please trust me.", Mrs Zhao's words were quite assuring for Wei but still he didn't want to part with Liang now.

"It's not like that auntie but I think I'm good now and can go home now. So, let's leave all this unwanted discussion and we can go home together."

"Oh Wei! My son, how can you say that?Just now doctor left saying that you need some more observation. We all just care for you and want you to get well soon. If you will not take rest, then it will not be good for any of us especially Liang. Please, listen to auntie and take rest and I will take care of Liang."

"Alright auntie I believe you. But please let him have a proper rest and can you not leave him alone, for me?", Wei somehow managed to trust Mrs Zhao as she nodded giving him a beam of reassurance.

"Pa please sleep now and come back quickly. I will wait for you.", Liang made Wei lie down on the bed before going back to the house.

Wei was left alone in the room when Yunlan went to leave Mrs Zhao and Liang to the car outside. Wei was afraid, very afraid as he didn't feel good about the day. It was the death anniversary of his Jie and already such incidents were happening since yesterday that just made him more distressed. 

Wei felt even more confused by Zhao Yunlan's behavior. His mind was filled with doubts. He was not able to find whom to trust and whom not, what to do or what not to do, what's right and what's wrong? All such questions were rising in his mind making him more ill at ease.

He was more disturbed and started to shiver when the image of Yezu's floating body flashed in his mind and then her last moments and slowly all the memories of that incident of five years ago started coming in front of him. Wei pressed his head with his palms, squeezing his eyes close.

His breath became irregular and heavy as he again started to think what he should do. He was fearful and cold sweat gathered on his head when he felt that he is completely alone to face so much and still, till now he is not clear as to what to do and how to deal with all this.

Wei's current mental state was miserable. But then he felt himself getting the most comforting warmth, which calmed him down, releasing a lot of mental oppression.

When Yunlan returned back to the room, he got worried seeing Wei shivering and breathing abnormally. "Shen Wei! What happened? Wei!", but he got no response. Without thinking much next, he held the cold body of Wei and held him up close to his chest. He stroked his back gently with one hand and with the other he brushed his hairs.

"I'm very afraid. What to do? I'm afraid. Help me! I want to protect him. I promised her.", Wei mumbled those words with his face buried in Yunlan's wide chest. He was not in a state of proper consciousness which could have been partially due to the influence of chemicals and drugs and partially due to his own disturbing mental state.

Yunlan tightened his hold on Wei in order to soothe him, "Calm down Xiao Wei! You are not alone. Be strong! We will fight together with them." Yunlan received no response but now he felt that Wei was rather calm, as he carefully made Wei lie down who had fell asleep.

Yunlan grabbed the seat beside Wei's bed as he felt terribly bad for Wei. 'How can you tolerate so much? You are really such an angel. And I am a fool, who was blinded by the falsehood, not being able to see the truth. Why did you bear so much? You should have protested and beat me. Am I really nothing in your life? I deserve some tough punishments. And I don't know how I fell so deep into it but it is the truth Shen Wei, I have fallen for you and I will not leave any chance to protect you and Liang. It will be hard but I will do everything to gain your trust Xiao Wei. You have already suffered a lot but now I am there for you and Liang, I will not let you be unhappy now.' 

For a long time Yunlan was lost in the thoughts of Wei while gazing lovingly at him when a nurse came bringing him back to reality, "Sir, you have been called outside."

"Mr Zhao! Pleased to meet you.", said a young man in police uniform grinning wide. He was accompanied by two more men, who appeared to be his subordinates.

Zhao Yunlan was confused, "I wonder what urgent job made you visit me here in the hospital, Officer?"

"Oh! I'm sad to tell you but this is definitely a bad news for you. We are here to take the testimony of Mr Shen Wei against you and then I am really sorry to say it but we will have to arrest you."

"What!?!", Yunlan was shocked, facing this new trouble. "And on what grounds do you dare to speak so?", asked Yunlan strictly as he was already annoyed by this over-smart looking police man.
