Lambs Among Wolves

2. "Then Jesus said to them, 'The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

3. 'Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves'" (Luke 10:2-3 NKJV).

Jesus never promised that the road to righteousness would be easy. He told us time and time again throughout the New Testament that living for the Lord is hard work. It's a full-time job, and sometimes, it's hard to keep up.

We also see examples of these trials and temptations throughout the Old Testament. Take for example Abraham, who left behind all he had known for the promised land of God, and who nearly killed his son Issac in a test of faith.

It's easy for us to think that just because we believe in God and trust in him that we'll never face trials, and when we do, they won't do much damage to us. The problem with that theory is that it is a lie.

We were never promised an easy road. Jesus sent his disciples (now us) out as lambs among wolves.

People, temptations, and this world overall will tear you apart. You will be hurt in this cruel world simply because you believe in the Lord. To combat this, take into consideration what Jesus tells us later on in Luke 10:10-11.

10. "But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

11. 'The very dust of your city which clings to us we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know that the kingdom of God has come near you.'"

When this world doesn't receive you, it's not your place to sit around and wallow about it, as tempting as that may be. We're not to sit in that place wondering what is wrong with us. We're to shake off our feet and keep pushing forward and doing God's work.

Life is hard. We were made to be lambs among ravaging wolves, but that doesn't mean that the power of the Holy Spirit doesn't still rest within us. Even as lambs, we are powerful, not of our own strength, but of the strength of God.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

You don't have to be strong enough on your own to take on this world. Wipe off your feet and keep pushing, because though you are a lamb, you are God's lamb, and he will protect you and be with you.

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) says, "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Wipe off your feet and keep moving forward. Some people will brush you off, mock you, hate you, etc. simply because you love the Lord. Rest assured knowing that you are a lamb of God, and keep moving forward because there could be someone down your path that needs to hear your story, and if you stop moving now, they'll never hear it.

God bless you, and please don't give up now. You've got this!
