Poem #1: The World I See

We each have a view,

Of how the world we see.

Some call it 'Cruel', while others 'True'.

But I beg to differ with thee.

With just Pleasure and Joy around,

A world can't thrive.

Some this might astound,

But neither with just Despair and Gloom can it survive.

Some see the world just full of Good.

While others see it as Hell's Gate.

Basing it on from where they've stood,

Either rising to Glee or falling to Hate.

But this is not what I see.

A different stand I take.

To both happiness and sadness everyone is free,

Having just one would make life fake.

For Darkness can't exist without Light,

Nor can Good without Evil survive.

No balance exists without these two,

Two opposites together must strive.

For what is the need of a True Friend;

If no Betrayal exists?

What is the need of Life to Descend;

If Sadness is never missed?

Thou may not not wish to face this,

Thou may wish to stay Blind.

But I ask that this, thou do not dismiss,

And open thou eyes and mind....
