It had been one day since our arrival to the Cullen's residence. Garrett and I met Bella who was the mate of Edward, and I couldn't be more than happier for him. Finding your mate was not only difficult, but rare. Upon our arrival, we also met a lovely little girl that was the main victim of Irina's accusation. Her name was Renesmee, and she could show you her memories and thoughts through a single touch. Not only was she gifted, but she had a different story of how she came to be. She was a hybrid, a half-human, half-vampire. I never knew through my nearly three-hundred years of living that there was such a thing, but nothing yet has failed to surprise me.

"Do you have a gift?" she asked me.

I smiled gently at her and replied, "yes, little one. I have the gift of judgement. I can tell if someone is lying or not."

My gift wasn't much. It was nothing when compared to a member of Egypt's Coven, Benjamin. Benjamin could control the elements, making him an elemental. Though, my gift did come in handy in situations such as this.

"Amity, can I ask you to do my coven a favor?" Edward had asked me as I played with Renesmee.

I nodded and told Renesmee I would be right back. Edward led me to the living room and asked if I was willing to use my gift to convince the Volturi.

"Of course." I had told him.

Garrett had also found his mate and although I knew that we would have to separate due to the Denali's diet, I was still happy for him.

"Congratulations." I had told him and Kate with a true smile on my face.

Back to the present, I was standing in a clearing with a smirk on my face, trying not to laugh at Garrett's courage. We had just found out Bella was a shield.

"Hey Kate," she looks at me, "give him full voltage, won't ya?"

Kate laughs.

"Sure thing."

Garrett had gotten out of his seat as Kate made her way over to him, holding her hand out. "This may hurt. A lot." she says.

Garrett smirks.

"I would rip that smirk off your face if I was you, Garrett." Carlisle says with his arms crossed in amusement.

"Whatever you say, doc. Come on, Kate, I still bet it only hurts on the we-AK. OW"

Kate had grabbed his hand and unleashed her full voltage onto him.

I laugh alongside everyone else. What a fool Garrett was!

I was bending down in laughter. "You s-should have s-saw your f-face!" I cry out in laughter.

Throughout the rest of the day, more people arrived. Two uninvited, Vladimir and Stefan from the Romanian Coven. In my opinion, I thought of them as power-hungry. They were only here to try to get revenge on the Volturi, not for Edward, Bella, and Renesmee and that made me mad. Why come here at all if you aren't going to support what's actually important: the protection of innocents. It didn't make much sense to me.

"When Aro wants someone from a coven, it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime." Eleazer of the Denali Coven explained.

I was currently sitting next to Kate as Eleazer explained as to why Aro would need witnesses. It seemed that Aro particularly liked picking fights with covens in hopes of putting a gifted vampire into his collection. It is what made his coven so powerful after all. He solely wanted gifted vampires the most.

"This is all about Alice," Edward growls. "This is all about her."

Eleazer looks at Edward. "I don't think he would want just Alice, Edward. We have other gifted vampires that Aro could find interest in. Bella. Kate. Benjamin. Amity. You. Anyone in here with a gift could be seen as potential to Aro."

"Why? What's so special about us?" Bella asks.

Eleazer sighs. "You, Bella, are a shield. If Aro sees that you are one, and forbid we even need you to use it, he would want to add you to his collection. Kate for her power to inflict pain through electricity. Benjamin for his power over elements. Amity for her judgement. Edward for his telepathy. I used to be a part of the Volturi. Aro would send me out to search for gifted vampires. If I was still part of the Volturi, every single one of you that I have mentioned would be a target for me to snatch."

That guy fits the description of hoarder pretty well, I think.

Edward snorts.

"You're quite right," he laughs. "Aro does fit the description of hoarder."

I smile. "I'm glad I can bring you amusement."

"No." my smile fades. "I won't take any of this. Tia, we're leaving." Amun says as he gets up from his seat and pulls Tia and Benjamin by their arms.

Edward gets up. "And where would you go, exactly?" he asks. "What makes you think he'll just stop if he gets Alice? Their goal isn't punishment. It's power. It's acquisition. Carlisle might not ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of not only my family, but for yours and how you want to live."

I smile and clap my hands. Edward looks at me and nods in appreciation.

"My pack will fight." Jacob pledges.

To the left and right of me, Kate and Tanya stand.

"We'll fight." Tanya says.

I look at Garrett, knowing our decision right away and we both stand.

"This wouldn't be the first time Amity and I have fought a king's rule. We're willing to do it again." Garrett says.

"Only this time, I won't be on the sidelines doing your sewing, so don't give me your uniforms." I chip in.

Everyone except Amun laughs at my two cents for a brief few seconds until it's interrupted by Benjamin.

"We'll join you." he says. "No, Amun!" Benjamin shouts as Amun fights back against Benjamin's pledge. "You can leave, but I'll do what I think is right. Everyone in here is worth fighting for."

Soon enough, all the vampires that have gathered gave their pledges. We were about to face our fate and although I was afraid for Renesmee and her parents, I also couldn't shake off the stinging in my heart that started when I first heard a certain name.

Aro.
