Chapter 22

The Celebration

Another year has passed, and it promises a good one for me and my family. 

You see, the results for the board exam are already out on the internet. My friends and I were so nervous because there were delays in the posting of results. The PRC kept delaying the inevitable; saying things like we're still finalizing the list of passers'. Then they would move the schedule of posting again. Nonetheless, the long wait is over. 

It was yesterday when my friends and I knew that we all passed the exam. We were so happy because no one was left behind. Pero hindi lang yun ang ikinagulat namin. As it turns out, kabilang pala si Kelsea sa listahan ng mga top notchers! 

Napuno ng kantyawan sa group chat namin when Mika pointed out that Kelsea's name ranked top 9 among 43,000 students who took the board exam.. Ang akala namin ay nagbibiro lamang si Mika, kaya hindi namin ito sineryoso nung una. Bagkus ay nagsi-reply na lamang ang mga kaibigan namin nang 'nice one Miks', 'best joke of the year', at kung ano ano pang pang-asar na emojis.

Meanwhile, Kelsea was silent the whole time. She wasn't replying her usual witty comebacks to any of our friends, which is really odd. Nagulat na lamang kami nang nag-send si Mika ng screenshot as proof that Kelsea indeed, made it to the top ten.. Gaya ko, natigil din sandali sa pag-chat ang iba pa naming kaibigan. Speechless din siguro sila sa nakita, at maaaring vinerify pa muna kung totoo talaga ito.

During that time, nagparamdam na si Kelsea sa group chat by sending a meme gif of an elegant woman covering her mouth in surprise, with the caption 'Oops'.

Napuno ulit ng kantyawan ang group chat namin. Imbes na i-congratulate ay tinukso na lamang namin si Kelsea. We seriously couldn't believe it! Mas nakakagulat pa ang balitang yun, kompara nung nalaman naming nakapasa kami.. Our friends accused Kelsea of hacking the PRC website to put her name on the list of topnotchers. Tapos napagbintangan din si Mika na baka photoshopped lang yung screenshot na sinend nya. Ngunit kalaunan ay binati din namin si Kelsea. As her friend, I felt so proud of her. 

Hay.. Honestly, I'm just so happy with how things are going smoothly for me this year. Although, there's still one thing I need to do.. Hindi ko pa rin nasasabi kina mom at dad ang tungkol sa relasyon namin ni Damon. 

It's been three months since we reconciled and during that time, we spent a lot of moments together.. I would pretend to go to the mall with Mika-- twice or thrice a week, when the truth is nakikipagdate talaga ko kay Damon.

May mga times din na nagpapaalam ako na mag-o-overnight lang sa kaibigan, ngunit sa mga panahong yun ay kasama ko rin si Damon magdamag sa bahay nya.. We would cuddle up on the couch while watching TV, and ofcourse hindi mawawala ang maya't mayang pagtatalik namin. Minsan umaabot pa nga kami nang alas kwatro dahil sa walang-sawa naming pagpapaligaya sa isa't isa.

Today, I decided to tell my parents about Damon.. We're having a feast in celebration for the blessings that we have received this year; including the recent news of me, being a professional architect now.
