Chapter 14

Blossom house
four car garage
Night

The side door bursts open as Toni and the Blossom's enter. Dr. Blossom flicks the lights on to reveal the Volvo, the red BMW, a black Mercedes sedan, and an SUV. Everyone but Veronica springs into action, opening cupboards for supplies - cell phones, extra batteries, maps, changes of clothes, cans of gasoline, ect. They load up the vehicles.

"I've had to fight our kind before. We're hard to kill" Reggie speaks up.

"But not impossible. We'll tear him up" Cheryl says.

"We'll rip him apart with our hands then burn the pieces" Archie says with bloodlust.

"I don't relish killing another creature. Even a sadistic one like James" Dr Blossom said.

"If he doesn't get to one of us first" Veronica mumbled.

"This is insane. You can't put yourselves in danger like this - for me" Toni says horrified.

"Too late" Veronica, glaring at Toni.

Cheryl shoots Veronica a look, then grabs two sets keys off the hook, throwing one set to Dr Blossom.

"I'll run Toni south, while your lead the tracker away" she says.

"No Cheryl, the tracker thinks you won't leave Toni, he'll follow you" Clifford said.

"I'll go with Toni. Reggie and I will drive her south" Josie suggested. She turned to Cheryl. "I'll keep her safe, cher" she whispered.

Cheryl agonizes. Frustrated. Josie steps forward.

Cheryl then takes a deep sigh. "Can you keep your thoughts to yourself?"

Josie nods. They share an unspoken agreement. Cheryl finally surrenders her keys to Josie. Then she opens one of Toni's suitcases, pulling out clothes.

"Betty, Veronica, put these on so the tracker will pick up Toni's scent"

"Why should I? What is she to me? Just a danger you've inflicted on us" Veronica says with gritted teeth, and dropping the clothes.

"Veronica. Toni is with Cheryl. She's part of this family now. And we protect our family" Clifford says sternly.

Veronica glowers, but picks up the clothes. Dr Blossom hits the door opener and the massive metal doors roll open. Dr Blossom squeezes Cheryl's shoulder before he and Penelope climb into the SVU. Everyone finishes loading up, getting into the cars.

Amid this, Cheryl and Toni take a moment together.

"If any of you get hurt because of me-" Toni starts..

"We won't, there are five of us, two of them. When it's done, I'll come get you" Cheryl pulls her closer. "You're my life now" she whispers.

They take each other in, possibly for the last time... As the first car peels out.

Highway
Dawn

Reggie drives, Josie in the passenger seat. Toni is in the back, her eyes red from crying. She talks on her cellphone.

"Mom it's me again. You must have let your phone die. Anyway I'm not in Riverdale anymore but I'm okay. I'll explain when you call me back.."

She hangs up the phone, then faces back out the window.

Forest

Cheryl, Veronica, and Archie dart through the trees, Cheryl, the fastest in the lead. Cheryl then suddenly stops, trying to read her enemy's thoughts. Veronica tears a tiny swatch of her shirt, leaving it on a flowering maple tree. And then their gone.

Another part of the woods

Dr Blossom, Penelope, and Betty crouch atop a hill, looking down at the river, they see...

Victoria jogs through, suddenly looking in their direction. Once they are assured she has their scent, they continue over the hills crest.

James blasts past the maple tree, then stops, backtracking towards the tree. He finds the tiny swatch of fabric. He starts off again.. but stops, smelling the fabric. Something's not right. He huffs, running into the opposite direction...
