Lauren's POV

After a 10 minute walk down into what I like to call the 'fancy' part of Miami we ended up in one of the most luxuriously expensive looking restaurants I had ever seen! The walls were laced with cream and gold curtains while every table littered with diamond candles.. even the fucking butter cubes looked hand crafted..

A fully suited up man gently took our coats from our shoulders before escorting us over towards a table in the corner of the room that lookout over the city detailing every night light like a sky full of stars.. I would loved to have seen the bill for this place..

"You look nervous"

She spoke bluntly holding out her glass that was somehow already being filled by a skinny well dressed waiter.. he looked like out of a movie with the white towel over his arm and a cute bow tie to match, I did the same holding up my glass just watching the blatantly expensive liquid line the bottom with a silky residue

"Um... I've never been anywhere this fancy before.."

I admit taking a sip of the sweet actually ok tasting alcohol watching my bosses loosely curled hair dance around her fingertips.. she still looked crazy intimidating when she wasn't smiling which only turned my stomach slightly but as soon as her eyes lift into mine I couldn't help but go completely blank

"Well enjoy it because I love this place, me and Sam come a lot"

She spoke glancing out of the window as if searching for some unknown object while I just stare at .. well.. her.. she looked extra stunning in the low hum of creamy light that flourish over her tan blemish free cheeks, even her winged eyeliner had a perfect point.. I could only imagine her having a personal stylist with the amount of money in her purse currently

"How long have you known each other? You and Sam"

I ask watching as her eyes fall back into my direction unafraid to make direct eye contact which admittedly was almost causing me to squirm

"Pretty much our entire life's, we were in placement together over on the south side"

"Placement?"

I ask intrigued only assuming it was some rich kid thing that I'd never even heard about being a lowly peasant to someone like her.. her face however told me different as she sank her eyes into her empty plate fiddling with the end of her shiny fork that lightly bounce from on top of the table

"Me and Sam were in foster care together, you know the big Creak house by the water.. we lived there until we were like 6, but then he got adopted"

She trailed off almost seeming as if she hadn't wanted to divulge that much personal information but already I was hooked.. she was in foster care.. that shit was crazy to me for some reason but I knew not to ask.. Dinah told me in passing once to never ask about her personal life too intensely unless she herself spoke out..

"What about you, what's your story"

She asked promptly before I could even let my next question tumble.. she very obviously only came here to talk about me it seemed

"Uhh, there's not a whole lot to talk about? I live with my grandma.. have done for most of my life, you already know I went to Catholic school.."

It was true.. my life was really boring come to think of it and even when trying to find cool stories I'd just end up empty handed.. I rarely lived on the dangerous side of life as I was inundated with nerves and almost always came up with an excuse not to be somewhere..

"Where's your parents? Why don't you live with them?"

"I was a lot to handle when I was a little kid.. my grandma offered to help so my mom and dad agreed to let her have me for a few weeks.. but then weeks turned to months and then.. well.. years"
