Lexa Pov

I wake up to the soft tracing of the tattoo on my shoulder. I remember getting it, the searing pain of the needle and the ink remaining long after the other had left.

But now, it was a soft touch, a gentle reminder of the beautiful woman behind me. I grabbed the furs gently as I rolled over, keeping them over my chest as I gazed lovingly into the eyes of my girlfriend. Wow I couldn't believe that after all this time and everything that I had done she still loves me.

"Good morning." Clarke smiled. Her voice was deeper and husky from sleep making me smile.

"Good morning Hodnes (love)" I responded. She leaned in and pecked my lips as I blinked tiredly. "How long have you been awake?" I asked, worried that she had been lonely.

She laughed gently at the slight crinkling between my eyebrows and said, "Just a couple of minutes. I was admiring your tattoo. Who did it?"

I sighed softly, trying to remember who had done it. "There is a place just inside the outer wall. The person inside there did it for me. They also did the one on my back, and the sacred symbol on the nape of my neck."

Clarke gently pushed me over so she could examine the symbol that shows that I am Heda, and then the larger ink on my lower back. "These are beautiful," Clarke breathed, not able to take her eyes off of my back. "They must have a steady hand?"

"Ha, yes. Tunisia is very good at what they do." I remembered the piercing pain that lasted only seconds but held so much memory. The ink on my back showed the results of the day that I became Heda. My Ascension day.

Gentle fingers traced their way down my back, making me shiver. But I wasn't cold. In reality, with the furs and the sunlight beaming through the windows I was nice and warm. But Clarke had this affect on me that no one else had, not even Costia...

The bed dipped as Clarke moved closer, and I could feel her lips peppering the skin of my neck and shoulder gently. I shivered again, as she wrapped her arms around me and sighed, and I could barely make out her words but I could hear the affection laced in between each syllable.

"Ai hod yu in, Leksa. (I love you, Lexa)."

I drifted back into a light peaceful sleep with a smile on my face.
