Neptune: Well, a main character has to have a goal. Medaka's just so happened to be trying to solve everyone's problem. And for a while, that's exactly what she's been doing every 24/7 365 hours a day.
Kokonoe: I mean, it should come to no surprise. Medaka is naturally gifted at just about everything she puts her mind to. Her mere strength is incredible.
