| Break | Jean X reader

It was a bright sunny day today. A perfect day for none other then the Ludi Harpastum. The whole city of Mondstadt is already decorated with harpastums and other decoration suited for the festival. You, as one of the Captain's of the Knights of Favonius is patrolling the area. Guarding duty does get more serious during these times since most of the Knights are celebrating the festival. Some however tend to focus on protecting the city. That goes to none other then the Grand Acting Master herself, Jean.

You and Jean have been childhood friends since young along with Barbara of course. You often visit their home to play together and vice versa. You both dreamed of being part of the Knights of Favonius and you both look up to Vennessa, the first Acting Grand Master, also known as the Dandelion Knight. It wasn't long before Jean became the new Grand Acting Master. You were really happy for her but the downside was that Jean gets really busy with work that she can't spare some time for herself. You always insisted on helping but she denies the help. Its very often she gets stress from work and never takes a break. Until one day when she fell ill. Luckily the traveller was there to help.

You decided to head to headquarters and bring Jean to enjoy the festival. You started walking towards her office. When you opened the door, Jean was sitting at her chair doing paperwork. You sighed at her. "Hello cutie~" You heard a voice called from the other side of the room. You turned to see Lisa sitting by the couch with a cup of tea in hand. "Hello, Lisa." You greeted her back. You turned to look at Jean and it seems she doesn't notice you or Lisa here. "What brings you here? Not spending time at the festival today?" Lisa asks. "Oh, I'm still on patrol but I thought to check on Jean knowing she won't take a break." You replied Lisa. She hummed in response. "I don't think you will get any response from her anytime soon, dear. I've been here for quite awhile and she haven't noticed my presence." Lisa informed you.  You nodded your head as she got up from the couch to leave the room. "Take care of her okay cutie?" Lisa told you before closing the door.

You went to sit on the couch where Lisa was sitting on earlier. How would you get Jean to enjoy the festival. No matter how much you tell her to come, clearly she won't listen. You thought of different possibilities but it all came to one. You have to use force to get her out of this room. You got up from your seat and came to Jeans desk. Finally taking notice of your presence. "Oh (Y/N), I didn't know you were here." Jean greeted you. "I've been here for quite awhile really. Lisa was here earlier too." You replied. "Oh, I apologize for not noticing you earlier. I must have been so focused." Jean admitted. You went around the table and grabbed Jeans hand and drag her out. "Hey! What are you doing!?" Jean exclaimed trying to pull back. You were physically stronger than she is so her pulling doesn't really work on you. "Take a break would ya' ?" You told her. She continued to pulled back but failed. Eventually she was tugging to hard and you decided to let go. You both were at the stairs heading down. "I don't have time to be at the festival today, (Y/N). I have a lot of work being piled up and I can't just ditch them." Jean told you. You just faced away from her. All you wanted to do was to let her have some fun and time to relax but guess force just makes things worse huh. Jean noticed your silence and felt bad about what she said. She knew that the two of you haven't been spending time together a lot recently. "I.. I should head back to my office now." Jean said and quickly ran back to the headquarters. You just stood at the stairs and just looked down. Does she really care about work more than you?

You decided to not partake in the festival this year. When even was the last time you enjoyed the festival? You went up to the city border tower. This is where you usually hang out when you had nothing to do. You felt bad for making Jean angry but at the same time you wish she understood you. You just stood on the tower and watch as the festival goes on. Many people happily laughing here and there. The tower you were at was rather near the tavern owned by Diluc. You noticed a certain familiar blue haired man drinking outside. What an alcoholic you thought. You were at the age of drinking but you decide not too. Alcohol doesn't suit your taste. You decided to make the best out of today by doing something else. Training to be exact. As you were leaving the city walls you heard Lisa called you. "There you are cutie~" Lisa said. You turned to her and tilted your head. "Is something wrong?" You ask. "No not at all. I just notice that Jean is not with you." Ah she had to bring that up. "She just wants to do her work so I'll let her be hahaa.." You laughed. A very fake one at that. Lisa knew what happened as she was eavesdropping a little on you and Jeans little argument. She was about to ask you another thing when she notice you were already at the bridge heading out of Mondstadt.

You decided to do some commissions requested by Katheryne from the Adventurers Guild. Not that many today but a handful. You decided to take most of them and do whatever you can to help. On the other hand, Lisa is in the office of the current Acting Grand Master giving a lecture to her. Jean never knew her actions affected you this badly. She knew you would always put her above yourself like how Jean puts work and others above her. Jean knew how reckless you can be when you feel down.

After finishing a few commissions, you decided to take a small break by the river at Starfell Lake. You help deliver some packages, help fix a transportation balloon and even fighting of some hillichurls. The sun was setting by now. Another year of missing the festival. "Guess I'll have to wait for next year then." You sighed and just stared of into the sunset.

After sometime you decided to head back to Mondstadt. As you were walking on the pathway you heard a scream. You quickly ran to help whoever is in need. You saw a lady being cornered by a mitachurl and other hillichurls. Another fight with hillichurls won't hurt right? You ran to them to catch their attention. They noticed you and quickly ran towards you and left the lady alone. After fighting them off, you ran to the lady. "Are you hurt?" You ask. She shakes her head and thanked you. "Here, take this for helping me." She handed you a small bag of mora. You just shook your head and gave it back. "Saving people is my job. You don't need to pay me." You told her. She smiled at you and thanked you one more time before leaving. Something you didn't notice was there's one more hilichurl that you missed. A pyro hilichurl shooter. It shot it's arrow aiming towards you. By the time you noticed the change of the wind there wasn't time for you to dodge. You closed your eyes waiting for impact but instead felt a strong feeling of wind blowing. You opened your eyes and noticed that the arrow was on the ground much further from you. You noticed Jean standing in front of you. She quickly ran and make quick work of that hilichurl.

"Are you hurt!? Are you okayy!?" Jean ask you holding you here and there making sure that you're not hurt. You took hold of her hands and shook your head. "I'm not hurt don't worry." You smiled at her. She smiled back at you and the two of you started heading back to Mondstadt. Before entering the city walls, Jean stopped which made you stop slightly ahead. "I hope it's not too late to spend time at the festival with you." Jean asked you shyly. You never thought she would ask you this. Normally you would be asking her to go with you for these kind of events. "I never knew I was hurting you this whole time. I always wanted to finish my work as fast as possible so that we can spend time together like always but the paperwork. They just keep piling. I didn't want to burden you to help me so I decided to do it on my own. I.. I hope you can forgive me." Head confessed. You just stood there staring at wide eyed. Maybe you should have heard her story before getting depressed about it. You walked towards her and hold her hands.

"It's alright. And of course I forgive you. No matter how many times you tell me that you are busy, I will always drag you with me no matter what."

"Oh, (Y/N)"

Jean smiled and hugged you. The night sky with beautiful stars being reflected on the river by the bridge to the city walls.

"Maybe I should take a break more often." Jean said shyly. You giggled and took her hand dragging her into the city gates to the festival. The two of you thought that it would be a peaceful night but guess Barbatos decided it was not tonight. A huge Harpastum bomb was in view of you and Jean. You both knew who's work this is.

Guess Jean really can't take a break now can she?

I'm finally done with Jean X reader ! It took me awhile to get an idea and I really love the way this came out. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I wrote this!
