My take on Rapunzel

More and more princesses flooded the castle all of them seemingly pleading to be my bride and most of all wanting to have an air with me. Disgusting little gold diggers. Father always coaxed me to talk to the witches that he called girls but I was never interested. Father always seemed disappointed with the development that I turned away. Giving father additional stress was always a bad idea considering he was sick with cancer. I tried to explain calmly that I was asexual and would never give an air but he always scoffed and told me I had not found the right girl yet. I even went as far to say that in my days I would have a bride and fall in love but he was obsessed with the idea of me having an air and would never take no for an answer. He would do whatever it took to give me an air even if it was a commoner to be my bride. He wanted me married and he wanted it now. That gave me an idea to relieve stress on his part. I would take a trip through all the land to 'Find a Bride.' and bring them back. I would most likely come back empty handed but I could try. So with that partially cheery thought in my head I started on horseback to look for my true love. I know I could have taken a chariot or my car but I had always been attached to buckey and knew that he would enjoy getting to stretch his legs with me. Also my car is so bulky and underdeveloped that it would take a long time for me to get used to the feeling of a car.I knew that on this long journey it would be no fun if I constantly looked for my 'true love' so I took an 'accidental' turn into the magical forest where nobody ever comes out. Oops? I had been traveling for a while in the dark forest when eerie noises gave me a feeling of dread. Shaking the feeling off, not easily frightened, I continued. The noises that I was hearing that put me on edge were getting faintly louder after thirty minutes of riding the noises were turning to whispers. I straightened my posture hopefully getting rid of the chills that lingered on every vitabri. I was about to turn around and leave when the whispers subsided and there was a long tower in the distance with a girl at the top. She was very noticeable to say the least. She had a skin tight black combat suit and long hair golden hair that draped to the bottom of the tower. Her eyes strangely had the same color of really well fertilized grass. I stopped my horse and went to the back of the tower on foot seeing if she was a threat. As I creeped closer to the tower I could hear the girl singing a wordless song. Her voice was beautiful to say the least but it had a cold edge to it, almost a bitter sweet tune. He was about to reveal himself to the young girl when the girl stopped singing and a figure approached with a long hood shadowing her face. I stood by ideally for an hour when the hooded shadow. When I was positive that she was gone I started to climb the wall to see the girl curiosity coursing through my veins as I put one hand in front of another in rapid succession. As I got to the top I saw the girl lying in her bed drawing now in a long t-shirt that reached her knees. And her blonde hair was in two braids that went across the room and back. As soon as I stepped into the tower she turned around seemingly sensing me. I put my hands up to show the girl I was friendly she visibly tensed before smiling.

"Hi... I'm Rapunzel uhm... It's nice to meet you.... What is your name." She stuttered awkwardly

"I'm Eugene Fitzherbert, prince of Corona pleasure to meet you." The girl tensed again at the word prince.

"A prince here why state your purpose or leave." She spat her words like they were venom and she got into a position where she looked like she was about to punch me.

"My parents want me to get married so I left the castle to find a bride and get married. I got bored because finding someone to love is not really what I want right so I took a detour into this forest and found you." I explained she looked sympathetic for a moment but her face slowly went to stone cold.

"There is no bride here so you can leave." Rapunzel coaxed coldly as she gestured towards the window.

"Chill I just want to talk. Do anyway have you ever gone down ya know I mean from the tower." I hesitantly asked, trying to avoid sensitive topics like the hooded lady might be. Her eyes flashed with fear before regaining her composure and staring coldly at him.

"No, Why would I go down, they're monsters down there, why would I even want to." She snapped. I stared at her in shock. Is that why she stayed up here, she was scared?

"Do I look like a monster to you? Some of us are but most are just like you." She looked up and I was skeptical but partially happy. "Do you want to see some of my people? I can show you some pictures." She looked happy and sorta confused. I went into my satchel and pulled out a bunch of pictures and after seeing them Rapunzel's face practically lit up. We talked for hours about my kingdom and we eventually talked about ourselves. By the end of explaining everything Rapunzel decided that she was going to run away and return to the palace with me even if it meant marrying me. I was surprised but I accepted her offer knowing I needed a bride and she was one of the best people I had ever met considering my palace walls are my confines. We talked and talked and before we knew it, it was morning and someone called.

"Rapunzel, oooh Rapunzel let down your hair." Rapunzel put her hand up telling me to be still as she called down in the sweetest tone I ever heard

"Coming mother." She said as she put her braided hair down making the lady jump for the hair as she climbed up.

Her eyes widened as she saw me but before she could say anything Rapunzel punched her square in the jaw and followed up with a kick then started to climb down the tower. BUt not before turning to the old lady in disgust and taking the hairpin she wore and throwing it off hitting the lady square in the forehead. She looked at Rapunzel in shock.

"You can't take it off Rapunzel, you have inherited my dark powers, you inherited all my secrets in that lovely hair. You have gone too far for someone you don't even know. I'll show you the powers I instilled in your hair." Rapunzel ignored her and kept going. Then the hood fell off her face as she scowled at me as she spewed her words overflowing with bitterness as she spoke.

"I hope I ruin your life. I hope I haunt your dreams. I hope I am your worst nightmare."

And that she did... She haunted my dreams every night. After that I got insomnia because of the nightmares even after she was executed. It's two years later and father died of cancer and Rapunzel is my wife and she helps me rule the kingdom but at night she sings me her wordless songs as she helps me go to sleep. The cold edge that her voice used to have dissipated over a few months of shhing lots of people happy and not being alone. Rapunzel called her mother a liar but her hair did get magical properties. Rapunzel realized that she could control her hair in any way possible; she only had to gesture with her finger for her hair to do itself. She could tie me up with it; she could even attack with it was admittedly very funny. After a year we decided that mother's nagging about a child was getting worse ever since father's death so we adopted a baby and named him Phillip. Rapunzel was great and the kingdom really respected her. She usually is really nice but occasionally we will see someone that was really disrespectful and mean but Repunzel knew how to put them in their place. Being King was hard but it's nice having Rapunzel as my queen. Even though we couldn't say we had fallen madly in love with each other we could at least say that we were married and happily at that.

I really like the thought of more fun and platonic relationships, you know just having fun!

Hope you enjoyed!
